THIS IS NOT LEGAL ADVICE:
I recently built a featureless AR15 and like you, I found threadless barrels impossible to find. So I went the route you went and had the same thoughts about how to attach the thread protector to be compliant.
This is what it says on the NY Safe Act web site is ...
Walk into Cabela's and look at their gun selection and tell me they are "fully stocked". Call DD's Ranch and ask him if he's fully stocked. I don't think this is exaggerated at all. It's also getting worse.
Regarding the video, the guy says multiple times "This may look like a lot of guns...

I prefer the look of the Resurgent Arms grip over the Thordesen stock. It's pretty comfortable, too. I recommend buying their end plate, though, because it's uncomfortable without something like it.
Based on the law, you can legally transfer a firearm without an FFL to someone in your immediate family (mother, father, spouse, brothers, sisters, children). So, if that was the family that would want to borrow one, you're good. This does not extent to in-laws. If it's a different type of...
I think I saw somewhere that the upper is aluminum and the lower is polymer, but I can't substantiate that and I've looked at so many of these type guns in the past week, I might be confusing it with one of the others. But I think that's right.
I'm fairly certain it's made in Turkey.
I just ordered one of these guys from PSA. My only other 12 gauge is a Browning BPS Field with a 28" barrel on it, which is not exactly tactical. If you want one of these, grab one before they're gone. They're sold out everywhere...
You can have optics, a flashlight, and a laser sight on a "featureless" rifle. The features you can't have are a collapsible stock, pistol grip, front grip, or a flash hider/muzzle brake. For me, as BDinPutnam said, the biggest issue is being able to drop the mag to clear a jam. That's worth...
The upper you selected does NOT include the bolt carrier group or the charging handle. You can get a basic BCG for $100 and a mil-spec charging handle for $15. So, you're at $1k with just mil-spec parts, which is why I chose to buy my upper and build my lower with better parts for the same...
I was originally trying to find a reasonably priced AR that's NYS compliant and it was impossible right now. You could find some cheaper non-compliant rifles online (like an M&P), but that does you no good. So, I just built my own. It cost me about $1k without the an optic. That's with a...
