I would go with any of these... Savage, Tikka, Sako, Howa, Fieldcraft, Weatherby. Or build a custom long range rifle. I know a few guys that have. I had a Remington 700. I had the recall completed and sold it. I like their old shotguns, otherwise I'm not a fan on Remington.

The Ruger Red Label is a nice gun. You mentioned a rule you live by- Buy once, cry once. The Benelli O/U is a better gun. Others are Franchi Instinct. Beretta Silver pigeon. You'll appreciate the O/U when shooting skeet.

I don't care for the looks of it. Especially the cutout slots on the slide. Their "S" (Savage) logo would have looked better on the grip than that TV antenna design.

The Buy back is being held in Mahattan/ NYC. BB guns are illegal in NYC, that's why BB guns are on the buy back list. In our neck of the woods, you can have a BB gun.

OP what do you consider as long range? 400yd, 600yd, more.. As much as I love .308. I would go with 6.5 Creedmoor for long range shooting.

NYC has banned what they consider as assault rifles since the 1990's. The ban pre-dates the NY safe act. The Thorsden stock is NY compliant, but "NYC" (5 boroughs) does not honor it. NYC has different rules. Just because something states it's NY (NYS) compliant, it does not mean it's NYC...

If you're that skittish/ afraid because you saw someone's handgun permit, then you shouldn't be a cop. Maybe a meter maid, crossing guard or mailman is a better career choice. just saying.

My guess 1yr+ for NYC. because on another site- someone said they applied (NYC) in 2/2021 and only recently got called for fingerprints in 2/2022. While others are still waiting.
