Well, the good news is that it's the traditional time for the hunting and target ammo to start rolling in for hunting season, the Labor Day sales. A lot of these of course have other applications. Rifle ammo, buckshot, slugs.

The mom and pop gun stores out here too have guns, and ammo. But I usually don't want what they stock, and they very rarely have any real quantities in stock. I do understand that inventory costs money.

I don't know what powder Hornady uses in the Precision Hunter, but after 3 shots on my Rem 700 30-06 the barrel's pretty warm. 5 shots and it's so hot you can't touch it. No signs of excess pressure either.
I have to say, I gave up on shopping locally some years ago. Always stuck with what's on the shelf. Never what I specifically wanted. I do online all the way.
