This right here. What if your cheap polymer pinky extension comes loose and as you draw your gun you drop $50 worth of ammo at your feet? Better hope you can make do with the one in the chamber..
I say this as someone who broke another cheap polymer pinky extension (365XL) earlier this month...
I definitely wouldn't take the risk of leaving it within reach of the little one. Have you considered one of those hidden 'safe' options? Something like this: https://www.etsy.com/listing/759052919/23-x-10-oak-hidden-compartment-tactical
Magnetic key, so no combination to fumble in the dark. I...
Sorry to hear that - I know that's exactly what the State wants, and that puts you in an uncomfortable position. It's similar to when someone calls you out for getting a pistol permit.. "You're just giving into the state, playing their games!" Unfortunately unless you want to take that big...
That's a fair point - even their Custom Shop gets expensive with TiN gold FCU and more... sure looks good though.
I've heard mixed things about the Legion PVD coating - some people say it wears easily but I haven't owned one so can't say for myself.
For gun-related here are the channels I'm currently subscribed to, though I don't watch every video -
Demolition Ranch
Garand Thumb
James Reeves (from The Firearm Blog - his personal channel)
Kentucky Ballistics (he's childish sometimes but makes me laugh, I didn't start watching until his...
It's already that way... I know of at least a dozen relatives (and coworkers) who expressed interest in owning a pistol just for the home, but when they saw the arduous process (both in time and money) they decided to wait. And over half of them are women.
A shotgun might be a viable option for...
I'm in Oneida County so obviously haven't seen that non-resident form.. sorry I can't be of help but I'd just say eff it and don't recertify. MAYBE keep a cheap pistol AT THE CABIN for protection when you're there but obviously don't advertise it.
I picked one up 6+ years ago - heavy AF but very accurate. Not sure if they fixed it since then but the Nylok takedown screw can work it's way out, S&W had an improved one they sent me for free but I ended up getting a 5/32" hex one on eBay, this listing looks like the one(s) I got, worked well...
Love the pics, I've had my eye(s) on this for a while - but after experiencing the joy of the 365-series and interchangeable grip modules, I wish S&W would come out with an M&P 3.0 giving us this option. I started with GreyGuns grip module for my 365XL until I changed to Wilson Combat last year...
Great info here - each person is different as to the color preference. Last August I compared the 507k in red and green - Lets talk Red Dots on handguns
At the range with green (tree) background, the green dot might be slightly harder to pickup if haven't done the reps, but it's a much...
507k-x2 in Green on the left, after about a month of AIWB carry. Dot is clearer than that but hard to focus in picture (both currently on Circle+Dot but will likely go back to just dot, just trying it out)
Curing for a few days before reconfirming zero. I did have one issue - the screws...
Those are just the ones I bid on, here's the rest from today - 01/28/23 January Sportsman Auction
Like I've said before I think it'll be a while before I find a good deal again. Wasn't looking for anything in particular, but if I can get something cheap...
I've heard similar - my only experience with them is a plate for my M&P 2.0 Compact. No issues with the plate itself, however their directions indicated (IIRC) 10 in-lbs, and after a range trip the optic (Holosun 509t) was working loose. After some research, I found the proper amount is 15...
Sneak peek -
Won't be able to get it mounted and tested for a week or two, as the 365XL it's going on is my daily carry and I need 24+ hours for the Loctite to cure, and of course to get it zeroed at the range.
I'll take plenty of comparison pics with my current 507k-Gr x2.
Opted for the...
I bought my first pistol (Beretta PX4 Storm) at the New Hartford Gander - they had it transferred free of charge from their Syracuse store. Sure price was a little higher but I had to buy something "asap" to put on my new (at the time) permit.
Don't think the fire had anything to do with them...
I had my eye on that as well - launch edition might be too much for me as I'm also looking at the A300 Super Ultimate shotgun (or whatever they're calling it).
Similar to Military Arms Channel's Gauntlet Test, GT tested multiple modern pistols (including a $6,000 1911) in yucky mud. Some surprising results, and some I expected.
Spoilers:
I'd still like to get a 320 of some flavor, but it isn't high on my list right now. As I said in another thread, I think 2023 is the year of Beretta for me..
When mag limits are struck down though I'm totally getting a 320 Legion of some kind for some sweet 21 round mags..
I've eaten at that location but it's been a few years., so it wasn't me.
I hope the customer stays out of legal trouble but will gladly donate to a fund if needed.
Sigh, Beretta might be getting a lot of money from me this year -

A300 Ultima Patrol Black
-- cheaper version of 1301, early reports are good
Another month another sportsman auction -
https://hessney.hibid.com/catalog/422937/01-28-23-january-sportsman-auction/
Let's see if I can get any deals...
Also shout-out to Hessney - when I picked up my G17 in November, they had to keep the standard capacity mag. Told them to dispose of or...
I probably won't for a while, or I'll wait until I have holsters first since the lead time is so long. Most people like them, sounds like the attachment point on the 365XL rail isn't the most secure.
Those are the plastic basepads I'd been using for over a year until they broken on the concrete...
Lately I've been carrying the 365XL Appendix in a JM Custom holster. I also have some BlackPoint Tactical IWB and OWB holsters, they do great work.
I'm tempted to grab a Streamlight TLR7-sub but then I'd have to buy new holsters... sigh...
Nice choice! It's the only SIG I own so far; eventually to plan to get a 320 of some flavor to customize.
I too picked up a Wilson Combat 365XL grip module - taking to range next week. I've been using a laser-stippled GrayGuns grip module (that cost 3x the Wilson one), but initial impressions...
Not trying to take the thread too far off-topic but -
I could almost see (but not fully support) a CCW Permit system (to carry), but to require a permit to purchase and keep in the home is CLEARLY unconstitutional. I personally know 10+ people who have expressed interest in having a pistol at...
Hopefully Bruen leads to all sorts of new freedoms in NY - SAFE Act gone, pistol permit system gone, maybe NFA items??? I don't care for full-auto (except maybe a .22 for range fun), but when suppressors are sold "over the counter" in Europe but they're restricted here? I just want hearing safe...
If (when) they release the Compact version I'd be tempted for the same reason (lots of mags and holsters), but seems like it would be wasted with 9mm. Maybe in 10mm to help with recoil?
By that logic, what if you AREN'T carrying and that's the day there's a violent robbery where someone you love gets injured or worse?
I was in Syracuse (briefly) yesterday, I don't look at window signs, I look at people by the entrance and so on.
Ooh that reminded me, I meant to add a Rossi R92 in .38/.357mag to the list - originally was looking to get a Henry but I've been hearing good things about the Rossi versions; might tacticool it a bit.
What are the Top 5 firearms (or related to the PewPew) you're wanting to, planning to, or will purchase in 2023?
In NO particular order this is where I'm at:
Beretta 1301 shotgun
6.5 Creedmoor Bolt Action - I'd like to get into long range but not sure if I'm ready to drop that amount of money...
Eventually I planned to pick up a Ruger SR1911 in 9mm to go along with my SR1911s in .45 ACP and 10mm, but the 1911 prices have skyrocketed over the years.... it's still on my list but other purchases are a priority.
I thought he did it more as a side gig since he instructed classes and the like... shame, I did like watching him, had great info, but I'm not paying $5/month (or more) to watch a video every 3-6 months when a new optic comes out.
Speaking of, I've got the itch to replace my 507k with an...
In previous years I got a small box of .22 LR ammo, and a vacuum-sealed bag of 9mm JHPs. All in an ammo can. This year I got a Hoppes cleaning kit, and that's it.
The shipping savings was arguably worth it though, since I don't always buy a full case at a time.
So what's the latest on stripped lower receivers? Since it is 'stripped' it's not a semi-auto (since you could conceivably assemble into a bolt action).. However I'm considering getting a fundraiser lower from AR15.com and reached out to the FFL I've been using for pistol transfers lately...
Happened to see a credit card charge this weekend from TS-USA.. checked the account and it was the Prime Ammo+ Annual Renewal, oooof, timing.. I didn't even get a reminder e-mail. Reached out to them and they refunded. Told them I'd be back when this BS is over.
Forgot to include HOLSTERS in my list of things to throw money at.. no one ever told me when I was getting into the pew-pew how there's never a 'perfect' holster and you're always buying another.. (unless you're carrying OWB then probably Safariland is perfect)
I was the winning bid on an HK USP Compact and SIG P239 until last night - kind of glad I didn't win as they were both .40 cal and I don't have ANY of that caliber. Would have been neat to have though. Prices are nuts - again I think people forget about the 13% buyer's premium, THEN sales tax on...
