10mm day at the range

10mm day at the range. Got a Dan Wesson Razorback about a year ago also picked up a used RIA double stack 10mm the other day. The Razorback shoots pretty much pop by of aim. The RIA is low and right. Thinking the RIA is going to get a caliber change 9,40, or 45 haven’t decided yet.

I do not think I have ever shot one. Maybe once..

I am a convert to 10mm in the last decade. Too big for everyday carry but an excellent choice for the great outdoors in the lower 48 where black or brown bear and mountain lion are the threats.

I have quite a few chambered in the 10mm. Not as many as 45 but probably more than 9mm and 40.

A 10mm is on my short list. I shot my fathers RIA 10mm and found it enjoyable to shoot.

The 10mm is fun, but I do offer one caveat to people interested in getting a pistol in it. If you don't handload, do your research on what ammo is available to you and look up real-world performance tests. A whole lot of 10mm ammo is so underloaded that you are paying 10mm prices to get .40 S&W performance. Unfortunately, this doesn't just apply to range-fodder ammo, but many defensive ammos are basically performing at the same level as .40 S&W loads through a comparable barrel length.

My Glock 29 is my oldest 10mm. I sent it to Glock 3 years ago to install Glock night sights and they replaced all the interior springs and parts with new ones for free. Basically a new gun.
My Glock 20, which was my almost daily companion during my woods running/hiking/snowshoeing/cross-country ski fitness program broke about 7 years ago. The rear rails came apart, apparently a known issue in EE series. Glock replaced with G series no charge. New serial number, went through process with County Clerk. It's my rainy day in the woods handgun. It's just so easy to take apart and clean.

I had Cylinder and Slide install Cominolli Manual Safeties on my Glocks. Up and down snick just like a 1911. Lever is a little small , but that has not yet ever been an issue.

In the past few years I have also picked up two 1911's, an STI Nitro 10, and a Springfield Armory Range Officer Operator in 10mm. The STI is about 2 ounces heavier than any 1911 I have ever met. I eats everything I feed it. Good sights, Manual thumb safety was a little mushy but a new spring gave it more of the "snick" I like in 1911's.
The Range Officer started off a bit picky about ammo. It liked ball, did not like hollow points or cast lead from Underwood. The past 2 range trips it seemed to be more acceptable to UW. It has a rail I never foresee using, good sights, great "snick". Very Very tight fitting handgun. A severely tuned extractor.

I put arched Main Spring Housing's w/ lanyard ring on my 1911's. They just come naturally to my hand. My only 1911 that doesn't have one is a used Colt Lt Wt Commander that had been worked on at Wilson. I figured that's the way it was tuned, I didn't want to mess with anything while it worked so well. Maybe a few thousand rounds from no I'll change it, maybe not. I shoot it well.

If I ever see a Delta Elite for sale I'll buy it. I think I like Colt's the most of all my 1911's.

I had the opportunity to take one of those for a test drive at the range last year and it ruined me. I've been wanting one since.
I actually tried out a 29, this morning, was too small for me even with the largest ext.grip on it.
I think I might go with an xds or a 1911
