Champlain just north of Port Henry is still holding lakers. We caught a few off of dark spoons @45’ and lost a nice salmon from a stacker set at 18’ at the back of the boat.

Nice Lakers, Pjzwtl…Long Island sound (Westchester) update : No Stripers or Blues in-shore yet. Catching them out in the middle on Mojo’s, etc trolling. I usually plug around the exposed reefs and hook up with schoolies pretty regularly. Nothing yet in three or four days out so far, at least where I am. Hopefully they’ll come in soon.

Nice. My boy and I each grabbed about 4-5 nice large mouth bass this weekend and a few in the 12” range. The larger ones were 18-20”. His were bigger than mine even though I told him how to fish for them. I lost a really big one in the weeds.
Here’s my 1 and only that broke the “skunk “ on Champlain last weekend around Barber Point. Green and silver spoon at 35’ down. Had a couple other releases in front of Spilt Rick but nobody was home. Fish were very scattered and it was way too calm in my opinion . I will be back this coming weekend
Here’s a pic of a decent size crappie I caught on a top water popper on Paradox lake the night before I was on Champlain.Was a pleasant surprise. Would have been lunch the next day but totally forgot about it in the back of my truck , in the baking sun all day. That smell was hard to get rid of!

Most of my fishing is local fly fishing on small creeks. Been catching some decent brookies this year in a creek across the road, no pics, I dont have a cam with me when I go. I'll be heading up to Lake Ontario 2nd week of June for some salmon and various trout. My friends usually have a camera/phone so I'll try to get some for a report. Have been doing this trip for the last 3 yrs and always limit or very close to.

Thats for sure. Biggest brookie I ever got was a 14"er in the West Kill. A very shallow creek that feeds the Schoharie. Mostly 6 to 8"ers all day and then this monster, lol. It felt like a monster on my little 2wt rod.

I love Brookie fishing in small creeks. They are so beautiful, the surroundings are beautiful, and they are so aggressive.
When I was a kid, my friend and I fished Mill Brook, in N.Syracuse (it runs under Bear Rd.), I caught a 16" brooky on a chunk of German ring bologna and that was the small one. My parents wouldn't let me eat it, so my friend took it home and ate it.
The creek was about 8" deep and 4' wide with small pools; pulled it out from a log snag with my trusty Zebco33 on a fiberglass Garcia 6' rod. Never could get the other two larger fish to hit anything.

Still do or they dart around and then don’t bite. I take my son and his friend from my church and the one kid never gets it. I try to tell him and he uses trout magnets not worms. Worms are the ticket.
Hit Champlain last Saturday. The wind was a little much but managed to land 4 lakers , 2 on a black and orange Michigan Stinger spoon and 2 on a some earthy colored Crazy Ivan spoon. Lost a very decent sized salmon on a cheater at the boat due to my daughters lack of netting skills

I caught a nice bass last week 20” small mouth and he hit like a tin of bricks. Great fight running drag and thought it was a northern instead. Fun but no other fish that day.

Westport area? Up on a work weekend at the camp haven’t gotten out I may go make a few runs before I haul the boat out later today.

Took a charter last week and we put some big steelhead in the boat and I got a few small salmon. We lost a big salmon because it was tangled in gear and a big steelhead popped off 15 feet from the boat. Some 6-9#’s.

Yes, sorry about the late response. Went north out of the bay at Westport towards Split Rock but not that far. All fish were caught more or less in the bay just before heading north.

The waters of SC treated me well yesterday. Put back a few red snapper out of season and a short cobia. Had a shark nail something I was pulling up off the bottom and snapped a pole

Well slow day. Found tons of fish but a challenge to get them to bite. I caught a 20” small mouth that fought like a truck, saw the blue angels doing their practice flyovers with the after burners on and best of all my son caught his first ever Muskie, on his new Muskie lure, and his new Muskie rod. 27” Muskie, but huge, but respectable and realized healthy. Good day and I proved him wrong again. The small mouth I caught kept digging in and going down to the both hard and was super fun to catch. I find they normally jump but this one didn’t
I'll be up at dawn turning over rocks for Asians then heading out as soon as I have enough water to get out of my slip. Gonna start on a few of my regular rock piles in less than 10 feet of water and possibly move on from there. Conditions will be perfect so probably won't need more than 2 or 3 drops to limit out.

What a long day yesterday. Originally my son and I were going to Black Lake to hunt bass. The guy that works with my wife said we should try cranberry Lake instead. 2 1/2 hour drive up, seven hours on the water, 2 1/2 hour drive back. We did not see a fish jump, we did not see a fish in the water, a fish did not bite or even target our lines.

Man that sucks. I went out last weekend and saw tons of fish. I found a honey hole with 40 bass in them I could see. Dropped a minnow in front of them and wouldn’t touch it. Dropped a worm in front of them and one bit my son’s line. Saturday was a hard day of fishing for us as well but we ended up with two nice fish in waters I know after 4-5 hours of fishing. I drifted a minnow in 8-9 foot of water 1-3 feet off the bottom and tossed 4-5 different lures and no bite until the last hour so I don’t think it was you.
I personally hate lake fishing unless you know where the fish are. Not much structure in most lakes. I fish the river by me and plenty of rocks and drop offs. I found a place where there is dip after dip and each hole was loaded with fish. I’m fishing it again Sunday.
