That is why you don't have guns that look/ feel alike in different calibers.
My 300 BLK ARs are fixed mag with unique handguards.
My 223 AR "like" (SCR) guns are not fixed mags and have different handguards. It is easy to differentiate in the dark and the only loaded separate mags are filled with 223

My 300BO will not fit in my 223. I make it that way on purpose.
If someone is that careless and can't notice the obvious difference between the calibers, they
shouldn't be messing with firearms.

If the round doesn't go in easily some "operators" will find a way to hammer that in even the whisper bullet is well crimped and it doesn't offset easily.

I disaggree. This is the same case. It is hard to notice at times. Im telling uou from experience it is easy to make a mistake.
Ask me how i know my 300 will not fit my 556....even tied the fa.....and another round!

Anything is possible but as a reloader of both to me its obvious. 30 cal bullet with a cut down .223 case compared to a .22 bullet with a full case length.
Ehh I have seen experienced riflemen accidently load a 223 in a 30-30 and novices try to load a 30-06 in a 308. The 223 went pop with a funny noise and made the case look funny, Nobody was hurt well except his pride. The novice called me over and asked why the round would not go into the gun. I looked at it for a second and realized what he was trying to do. We had a good laugh and then a serious talk about watching what you are doing. No one got hurt not even his pride.

I have seen way too much in my line of work to not take the time to focus on what could happen. Agreed accidents happen but this is one thing that could have devastating results. Even when i reload its single stage and methodical for that reason.
