50 cal ar build

Im thinking of a 12.7x42 ar build.(otherwise known as Beowulf)
I have a 300 blackout pistol already, can I legally do a 50 cal pistol? It is obviously fixed mag, and the only thing I remember is desert eagle is illegal because of weight. @Willjr75 you seem to remember all the laws.

Just finished looking through penal law again and appears gtg. Can't remember why I thought a 50 cal semi auto pistol was a no go.

Now I just need to decide if I want a 10.5 pistol, or 16 rifle. Im leaning towards pistol as my 300 is just a perfect combination of size and weight.

Thoughts?

Also id believe a 16in may be better for the Beowulf,

The 300blk works so well with say 9in or even 7.5in barrels because that's how it was designed.

The .50 beowolf was designed to be a standard length carbine (16in I believe)

But don't get me wrong a pistol .50 would be hella fun, just probably going to lose some performance if you are using only half the length barrel than what it was designed for (but I don't know if it was designed for a 16im or 14.5 barrel so)

Those are my thoughts also. It's an under 200 yard round anyways, im leaning heavily towards pistol.

Completely agree, I've been wanting a .50 and a .458socom for a whole now.

Also want to get one of the bolt action .50bmg uppers for am ar15 lower

Even the website says it' only a guide but it's pretty handy when trying to figure something out then reference the penal code to verify

If you believe that a fixed magazine rifle doesn't have the ability to accept another detachable magazine (I don't) then a .50 cal pistol is legal. It doesn't matter the caliber. It could be a 20 mm Howitzer fixed mag pistol.

If you believe it cannot accept another detachable magazine and are willing to defend that it cannot and prove to the court that it cannot then any fixed magazine rifle no matter the caliber is legal.

Yes, opinions on fixed mags are another discussion, fact is there are thousands of fixed mags being sold in N.Y. legally. Hell, I've had a couple already on my nys permit along with many others.

Thanks for the answer, my confusion was coming from a couple failed bill attempts on a proposed 50 cal. ban.
