Don't know anything about the 6.5 USA but, I just ordered a 6.5 creedmoor barrel for an AR308 biuld. Looking forward to testing out the 6.5CM in an auto loader.

After the 6.5mm Saturday night fever eases they eventually will find out nobody wants a 6.5mm for military use.

The military is going lead free and with modern bullets one gains nothing with a 6.5 over the 308.

Actually one is going to loose too much. If we were going to change the 7mm will give more versatility and something as
simple as the 7mm-08 would be the perfect cartridge. But I think it will be hard to justify once we get into
modern 308 rounds and bullets that will allow us to continue to use the existing rifles and machine guns.
With lead free bullets and modern powders and bullets anything below 7mm bore doesn't make sense for military use.

The 308 offers the same range and trajectory as the best 6.5mm loads yet more momentum on the target and
from shorter barrels.
All the military has to do is to add a couple of new rounds with a lead free for long range and snipers.
The technology is available for civilians so if they are smart they will simply use that baseline but w/o infringing on
patents like they did with Liberty's ammunition and ended up loosing the suit that have to pay with tax payer dollars.

But you know how this goes... the military might not make the best choice based on fashions and politics.
