MAHOPAC – Seven hundred triploid carp will soon be calling Lake Mahopac home now that the State Department of Environmental Conservation has issued the Town of Carmel a permit to stock the sterile fish that eat their weight in vegetation each day.
Carp will be used to ease the algae blooms and vegetation growth that is choking the lake which serves as a recreational area for residents of greater Mahopac each summer.

I have a great idea for the Asian carp. Take a flat bottom boat up and down the river in rural areas with two guys on front of the boat with shotguns when the fish jump yell pull and treat them like they are clay birds. I think you could make a fortune doing this.

A hundred years ago...me and the buds, under the pretense of bunny hunting, would wander through the corn fields along the Mohawk. These places always flooded due to ice jams, and fish, mostly carp, would be stranded, litterally frozen, in the furrows. We would bust them out and take turns blasting them. Like shooting fish in a..er, furrow?
