8 months in the pipeline of paperwork and safety class then judge sign off. Finally finished up the permit process last year but coming into a holiday season I didn't have a priority on picking out a pistol right. Amendment form was brought to Rockland Clerk on Wednesday and they mailed out my amended permit yesterday so I should be able to pick up my pistol on Monday.
Through this entire process it's clear not all of NY gov is out to stifle your rights. The Rockland County Clerk was a pure joy at every step. Expediting anything they could on their end of the process.
Went to my local gun shop - Shootz and Latters, Suffern - and picked out a Girsan Regard MC which is a Baretta 92 clone. I immediately liked the way the pistol felt in my hand and after looking up info online decided it was what I wanted to buy. Looking forward to getting to the range and getting familiar with the pistol. Then it's back to learning with @OnSight Firearms Training
