I built an 80% lower and put an IFC 410 upper on it and it will not fire. It will do everything but go bang. Any thoughts?
I see another ARF GD user in the crowd.Hello fellow firearms enthusiast and welcome to our forum where we have discussions on topics such as cooking, snow removal and our wood working hobbies. You may be better suited at an AR specific forum where they would have many more enthusiasts who might have experience with that sort of upper.
Yes, I had a 300BLK on the lower and it ran great.Does a rifle upper work on that same lower? From what I’ve read online those 410 uppers are finicky.
are The primers of the shells being dented Or otherwise marked?Yes, I had a 300BLK on the lower and it ran great.
No. Checked the bolt and pin, everything looks to be in order.are The primers of the shells being dented Or otherwise marked?
When I bought the upper they said to use a carbine buffer and spring so I did. I pulled the bolt and the pin rattles freely. I lubed it before I put it back together and it appears to ge into battery the way it should.I would have said try different ammo but if no firing pin strike sounds as if bolt may not be going fully into battery. Did you try loading single round with no mag? Lubing BCG? Using forward assist (if it has one) to make sure bolt is fully engaged. Possible buffer and/or spring too light?
I don't think anyone on this forum, that lives in New York, would have access to such a firearm. In New York, magazine fed semiautomatic shotguns are illegal. (And...I've never even seen a 410 shotgun shell in person.)I built an 80% lower and put an IFC 410 upper on it and it will not fire. It will do everything but go bang. Any thoughts?
I did try a different lower and a single round with no mag. Guess it is time to call the manufacturer. Thank you.Did you try loading single round with no mag? Does it fire on a different lower? Only other thing I can think of is having bolt and barrel headspacing checked.
Did you change the buffer and spring for the new upper? You mention you are running a carbine buffer and spring are you also running a carbine buffer tube? If not I recommend going back to the correct buffer and spring for the buffer tube.Yes, I had a 300BLK on the lower and it ran great.
Sounds like the problem is in the BCG.I did try a different lower and a single round with no mag. Guess it is time to call the manufacturer. Thank you.
The tube, buffer and spring are a matched set. They came on the lower which is a Stag Arms.Did you change the buffer and spring for the new upper? You mention you are running a carbine buffer and spring are you also running a carbine buffer tube? If not I recommend going back to the correct buffer and spring for the buffer tube.
That is my next check.Does the firing pin protrude enough out of the bolt to do anything?
I've got this..
Finish building the other 20% ..
Thank you for your input.
