Accessories Question - Red Dot

I've been looking at online reviews. What I want, and what I want to spend are - of course - drastically different.

In the lower-priced category, the Bushnell (TRS 25) seems to be okay. CDNN is offering it for $70. What do you think? Both about whether this is a good price, and whether it's an okay red-dot for now. Without having ever used one, it's hard to know what to look for, and what I might end up liking or needing.

I've been using it for 7 years now with the original battery.

CDNN blows. I won't give them my money no matter how cheap their crap is.

I think the T25 is a good optic at a great price. Miles better than the truglo crap. $70 is a typical price, you can get that deal anywhere.

Oh. Got it. I agree it sucks for them to be too lazy to figure out what can and can't be shipped to NY. Makes me hate FUAC (and NY gun laws in general) more, though. I'm surprised they didn't give me any shit about sending my upper to NJ.

Did you end up getting the PA? Or are you waiting for your pistol first?

I love my TRS-25. It is the only red dot I will buy again. As much as I like my Vortex, I prefer the Bushnell. I'd even sell the Vortex if I could to replace it.

I have had experience with three different red dot optics. I've had the Bushnell TRS-25, the Vortex Strikefire and the Aimpoint Pro, with the TRS-25 being the least expensive and the Aimpoint being the most expensive in the bunch. Obviously out of the three, the Aimpoint has the best clarity and a nice crisp dot. The Bushnell was also clear but the dot was not as crisp as the Aimpoint but still nothing to complain about. The Strikefire was the worst of the three. The glass was clear but the dot was like a small paintball splat. I called Vortex and they replaced it. The replacement one was a lot better but the dot was still not as crisp as the other two optics. Needless to say, the Aimpoint is the one that has a home on my AR now. If budget is a concern, in my opinion the Bushnell would be your best bet in that price category.

Have you ever looked through an EO Tech? I had the opportunity to shoot n AR that was equipped with it, and while it seemed to be made well, I didn’t like how the sight seemed to be very digitized. Almost like an 8 bit sight from a early video game. For $500-600 bucks I’d imagine that thing would excellent clarity.

I’m not bashing the EO tech, hell I got the cheap-o bushnell. I couldn’t even tell you which one it was that I was using (a gun someone else brought).

I never looked through an Eotech. I am not a big fan of the bigger circle around the aiming dot. It seems too busy for me. I prefer a single dot to aim with.

Felt the same way til i actually handled one. Felt pretty good to me. On paper it circles around the target nicely so you can judge where you are relative to center. On 2 legged beasts it sits nicely on the sweet spot under 50 yards. Out further it serves the same purpose as on paper, all about general vicinity targeting.
