So I do a lot of driving for work and I live in Oneida County but I'm up here in Hamilton County in Speculator and I pull up to the Gas Pump and there's a DEC officer pumping gas and I like to ask you know the cops on the ground how they feel about the Safe Act and he straight up told me if he came across somebody target shooting and they had a pistol grip and a muzzle brake on their AR-15 he wouldn't even bat an eye at it I then talked to a separate one who came into the store and he said exactly the same thing on top of that they also said the DA's in the area told them don't even bring them Safe Act violations because they won't do anything with them. Obviously you'd still be rolling the dice if you had an illegal gun but those two statements blew me away and it gives me some hope if I never get to leave this fucking place I'll just move up into the mountains and keep to rmyself and I'll probably be good and by that time I'll have a good enough career where I can afford a lawyer if someone did bust my balls. Figured I'd share.

I believe most of the sheriffs up here have stated there disapproval of the Safe act, including the oneida county sheriff. My biggest concern would be younger LEOs and DA's trying to make a name for themselves.
Exactly and that's the scary part but it does give me hope and I'm almost positive you had a good lawyer and you had no criminal record you're not getting a felony out of the deal.
Most every cop I've met has said pretty much the same thing. Of course what you should worry about is if you ever needed to use "that" gun for self defense or God forbid there was an accident with it. Most sheriffs, local PD and DEC/ENCON "probably" wouldn't bat an eye. State boys not so sure about LOL. Best bet IMO is just keep the gun compliant (of course nobody will tell you definitively what that means FUAC) and deal with the BS law but I certainly wouldn't give you any grief if you decide otherwise. Yeah, like I said not so sure about the State boys. That said I've had conversations with a number of State police and everybody I've spoken to has been against the unSAFE act. Of course this has generally been bar talk no idea what would happen when the uniform is on LOL. Again best advise is keep it compliant.

I haven't heard anything about that but wouldn't surprise me as the law itself seems to provide an "out" from prosecution...
Shit it's only a Class A misdemeanor I thought it was a felony I got Class E felony and got it got dropped to a disorderly conduct ticket.

Judging from the number of exclusive safe act only arrests, which I believe is zero, nobody in LE seems to care about it. I know there have been a handful of safe act arrests but I think they were tacked on to other charges to begin with.

Most of not all cops I talked to say the same thing. Does mean the one you run into will feel the same way. Don’t forget the state police are all over, well the state. Some feel that way and some don’t. You never know what one you’d run into. Best to stay on the right side of the law if possible.

My dad and brother are cops. A good friend is a corrections guard. My neighbors a cop. My best friend from high schools a cop. Mymother good friends older brothers a cop. A lot of people who sit around my best friend from high schools camp fire are cops. I know a lot of cops. They are all “good cops and good people”. Also many of the kids parents my kids go to school with are cops and on the same force as my dad. A friend from high schools a Buffalo cop and a girl I used to work with is a Buffalo cop. So yeah I talk to a lot of them.

I posted last year about a coworker that got into a dispute with the landowner next to him. Guy was illegally dumping on that property, coworker was concerned about his well and reported the guy a couple of times over the years. Coworker and a buddy were deep into the beer one night and the guy pulls in with another load. They go and confront him, armed with ARs. End result is a claim of shots fired, and two trucks are torched.
