Albany County Amendment Wait Time

Well, I hesitate to answer because I'm not in Albany county and so I can't give you matter of fact information only second hand. What I was told when I complained to my clerk (Rensselaer) about how long my first amendment was taking, was that by comparison in Albany County it was taking 3 months plus. Take that for what it is, second hand info from a clerk. This was last summer BTW, so I don't really know. Hopefully that helps give you an idea though and hopefully someone with first hand info chimes in. How long have you been waiting thus far? Have you spoken with someone at your clerks PP office?
Thanks for the reply, I have not called, but essentially their website says do not call, all we will tell you is it is in the Judges hands. I asked at the place I bought the pistol and they say its a crap shoot. I have been waiting about a month at this point. Frustrating to drop money on a gun and have to wait a month or months when we are already permitted. Just looking to hear from others in the area about how long the wait has been running.

What is an amendment? Is that what adding a gun is called? Does not everyone have walk up instant service? So they got 62 ways of doing the same thing?

I wish I could answer - because that would mean my permit was done! Albany County has had my permit application paperwork since August 2016. Closing in on 7 months wait time.

Unfortunately it is in the judges hands. Honestly, I don't understand why a judge has to personally sign off on every handgun purchase. Once granted a permit, amending it should really just be an administrative task completed on the spot without delay by a clerk. Judges have better things to do and people like us, just want to be able to take possession of the things we have paid for and get on with our lives. It probably is a crap shoot and all depends on your judge. Here in Rensselaer it's not as bad, but where as a lot of the judges in this county amend permits either the same day or within a few days, some like mine take their sweet time and it can be weeks or months. I feel your pain brother. I hope you hear soon. Let us know.
I'm in Selkirk so, for the permit, I had to go through the town of Bethlehem police. From completing my paperwork and the first call to submit to the day I received my permit was about 18 months. I bought a pistol almost immediately after that (april17), and the amendment was about 14 days. I've just submitted for a second amendment and we are currently on day 4... we'll see...
Dropped off my Albany County Amendment on 13NOV in the morning. Received letter saying Amendment was approved by judge today, 30NOV. 17 day wait to get letter. Not too bad.
Edit: To anyone reading this I believe the magic number in Albany County is 4 pistols owned to get an extra card issued to you with all of your pistols on it.
