Another bill requiring NYPD hold so-called gun buybacks

A second bill has been to the City Council requiring the NYPD establish a so-called gun buy-back program, INT 916-2023.

The wording is a little different from INT 892-2023 which was introduced a few weeks ago.

I’m fine with buy backs. I think people should sell what they have if they don’t want it to some one else or an FFL. It’s a shame people turn in what they do but if people don’t want that gun in their home there should be an avenue for them to get rid of it. Of course there is now and of course this doesn’t reduce crime at all but hey. I’ll never do a gun buy back unless it’s like that guy that printed off tons of 80%’ers and made $21,000. I think that’s awesome and if this goes through people should do that all the time and bankrupt the program.

If people want to take an unwanted gun to a shop for consignment that's good. They will, likely, get the best price possible for their property, the shop will make a little on the side, and the new owner will be happy. Effectively only three people are involved.
But "buy backs" (which are nothing of the sort) are supported with taxpayer money, completely short-change the current owner, and bypasses local businesses. The only ones happy are the tyrants and the "authorities" who can potentially get expensive items at bargain basement prices (free).

Nah, Hochul borrowed money to take care of that so no crisis anymore.

this should be how a gun buy back works

#1 a chop saw is required on site ..

#2 .. the gun being turned shall then be cut into 3 pieces on site . ( decommissioned ) stock/grip , reciever/chamber , barrel

#3 .. then the chop saw operator looks at person .. you know that gun was worth 1500 bucks

then the person get there little 100 dollar gift card .
