.308 Win
I picked up a nice looking SKS at an auction this weekend. It was among the top 5 SKS's at the auction out of eight of them, maybe the top 4. I figure it is about 95% metal finish and very nice wood, all original numbers match (I said original numbers because there are also electro-penciled numbers from importer). Paid $325 bid plus 10% auction premium and tax, wound up at about $380. Expensive as all hell for an SKS, based on what I paid for three of them years ago, but all the others at the auction except one other went for more money.
They had one without the integral grenade launcher and I would much have preferred that one but had I bid it would have to have been at least $25 more than I planned to bid on (bidding in increments of $25). As it turned out though, I got a nice rifle. Took it apart earlier today and gave it a good cleaning, hoping to get to the range with it sometime this week.
All the best,
Glenn B
