I saw the Roni recently in person and was impressed. Watching the video left me uninterested, but in person it's pretty cool (and solid). I don't think either are worth the hassle in NY though.

Wow, that new version is way cleaner than previous ones. Much more svelte than the RONI too. I could possibly see a role for it, maybe as something you keep in your vehicle with a few 32 rounders for if schtuff gets really real in your area unexpectedly.

JMO, the value of a thing is only determined by the purchaser. If it turns you on, go for it.

I was told it wasn't because it weighed over 50 oz's and had a barrel shroud.

My argument was that I didn't manufacture anything. The Glock came in at less than 50 oz's from the factory. I'm just adding a different slilde on it. It's no different than adding a scope on it bringing it to over 50 oz's.

My argument also was that the handguard wasn't a barrel shroud. It's part of the slide. A barrel shroud is a separate piece that goes over the barrel.

If you move just put the $500 or so into a proper AR I say. Or use the $$ to get a crap ton of standard cap mags for what you have.

What I like about this is that it would make a great addition to a bug out bag that's meant to be as lightweight as possible. It'll extend your range to 150 yards plus with minimal weight and bulk using your same pistol ammo.

That's my angle on it too. Its just a lot of dosh for something so situational.

Yea. It is. An AR pistol in a pistol caliber could also be made into less than 6 pounds too.

10mm PCC would be no joke. But then neither is 5.56.

I'm not touching the legality with a 10' pole.

I think the price point is fair. Almost any AR upper cost that much and considering this is a nitch item I consider it fair.

If I was in a free state I don't think this is what I would purchase for that role. I still think a collapsible PPC that uses your standard sidearm magazines is a superior platform. If you go this route then when push comes to shove you only have one firearm instead of 2, with minimal weight savings.
