Any of You Guys Carry 124 gr +P Gold Dots?

Here is an interesting post by a member from another website. He tested the 124 gr+P Gold Dots against the ones loaded by Underwood. Those are the same 124 gr Gold Dots loaded at +P+ velocities.

What I found interesting is that if one loads these from a short 3 inch barrel, you get the same velocity as you would with a regular Gold Dots from a 4.5 to 5 inch barrel.

I chronographed the Underwood 124gr GD +p+ against the Speer factory 124gr +p. The results are an average of five shots.

G19 with 4.5" Storm Lake broach cut barrel. Speer factory +p - 1,230fps. Underwood +p+ - 1,360fps.

G19 Stock 4" polygonal barrel. Speer factory +p - 1,198fps. Underwood +p+ - 1,301fps.

Kahr PM9 3" polygonal barrel. Speer factory +p - 1,111fps. Underwood +p+ - 1,229fps.

I do not know how Underwood does it, but the fired cases showed less pressure signs than the Speer +p. Remember, this is one box and specific guns, both of which may vary compared to other boxes and guns.

I can now carry this round in my PM9 and get the same velocity as I would get with a Speer factory in a longer barrel. I am not trying to convince anyone that Underwood is the way to go. I am just reporting. If the velocities are too high for you, Underwood sells a +p version.

Ive never messed with +p+ or even +p stuff. Not sure the truth to it, but wears down the gun quicker? Id rather more shots than beating it up with hotter loads. YMMV as it usualky does. Weirdo.

People say that a lot but it's no different than the wear you get with a .40 that's built on a 9mm frame or when you shoot .357 Sig out of a .40 which is also built on a 9mm frame.

The wear comes after 10's of thousands of rounds which none here will do with this ammo but will do with their .40's.

It would only be for the occasional firing off of old carry ammo and for functionality.

With the Underwood's out of your Glock 26, you get the same velocity as if you'd fired a standard +P Gold Dot out of a Glock 17.

All I have ever carried is 124gn +P Gold Dots. My Glock 26 and S&W 5906 literally have thousands of them down the pipe each with no issues.

I think he was referring to the Gold Dots loaded by Underwood to +P+.

I keep standard pressure winchester defend in my 17oz lc9s because of the ballistics tests with short barrels are great. It's a bit snappy as is without +p.
Not sure I'd even want to try +p+. I'll take quick follow up shots first.

Well that didn't take long found a new round I want to try out. Now comes the hard part actually finding the ammo some place I can buy it from.

The thing about luckygunner which I do not like is that they'll shoot 5 shots for example where 2 reach 12 inches. Great! But 3 failed to expand and penetrated 20 inches. Those 3 are total failures. They then average out everything including the failures and say that the particular round penetrates 17 inches.
