Anyone know the process of transfering a Nassau (NY) permit to Sullivan?

I'm new to this board, I was referred here by some friends on LIGC.

Curious if anyone knows the details on how to transfer my existing Nassau County permit to Sullivan. Just closed on a house in Sullivan, already changed my Driver's license and voter's registration.

I called the county clerk and he said I have to wait six month and then apply as a new applicant. That just doesnt sound right.

Anyone have any personal experience or knowledge?

The clerk is wrong. You have a NYS permit, same as Sullivan Co. Contact the Sullilvan Co. permit office. Your current permit just needs to be transferred to Sullivan. I think there may be a form for that and a small fee.

Thanks, we are in the process of setting up the house so I'll probably be up there about once every other week for the next few weeks, but I'll try to stop in there on Monday. Of course the website says "By Appointment only" even to just pick up an application.

My dad transferred his from Dutchess to Sullivan several years ago (we live in Sullivan by the way...welcome neighbor!). If I remember correctly, we just went to the Sullivan County Clerk's office and asked for a new permit. A form and a small fee. Again, it was probably nearly 10 years ago so things may have changed.

I had a NYC permit when I moved to Columbia county.I had to fill out a form from the County Clerk/PP clerk to the NYPD requesting my permit file be sent to the Columbia county clerk.That was surprisingly fast,when the file got to the clerks office they issued me a Columbia county permit,on the spot, with an expiration date that matched my NYC permits expiration.I then filed for a new Columbia county permit application and got my new permit in about 2 mos,well before the expiration date on the temp.

I know a fellow that has lived in Monroe county for at least thirty years and still uses his county of issue for his permit, which is Tioga. Quite a hike, but when he does an add-on or removal he trucks all the way down there to do the paperwork.
