I feel like you folks are making a very big assumption here. It seems entirely likely, and perhaps even more likely as I see it, that the actual intent of this 'investigation' is to 'prove' his complete innocence, and clear him from scandal, in preparation for his advancement.

The last I knew Sheldon Silver was sentenced to 9 years. But has yet to spend time behind bars
because it was decided that he would be vulnerable to COVID-19 in prison.
The last I knew Dean Skelos was released early from prison because of the COVOID-19 situation.
The last I knew (Cuomo's right hand man) Joe Percoco was released from prison to home confinement around this time last year. Also because of the COVID-19 situation.
I cannot vouch of the accuracy of the above text. But I am pretty sure it is accurate.

Exactly. They passed "legislation" which he had to sign to give him his extra powers. In order to revoke it, they would have to pass new legislation which he'd have to sign. How do you think that would work? Theoretically, they could override his veto. But as said, it would take them longer to do something than the time left. Unless he signs an executive order granting himself an extension. This is possible under the provisions of his emergency powers. It's all for show to make the sheep think they're doing something.
