Can a bolt be rotated 180 deg. and be used in a left handed bolt carrier, or are left and right specific?

Okay, thank you. Sometimes there are subtleties that I fear I might miss. I see bolts sometimes listed as left handed and thought I was missing something.

The bolt pin will not fit if you rotate the bolt. The Mil-spec bolt has a tapered hole for the bolt pin, that way it is GI Proof.
You would have to make sure the bolt is machined with an untapered bolt pin hole for it to work.

^^^ what he said. I was just going to mention that. But yes, they do make bolts for left eject AR's in a few different calibers.

@Robin, it's not at all necessary to have your AR eject out the left for left handed use, the ejection pattern will be well forward of you face.

you cannot use a right hand bolt or carrier in a left hand receiver or vice-versa.

Man, try and find a left hand 6.8 or .224 bolt, even Stag is out of them. The one I bought comes with a 7.62 x 39 which I plan on swapping out. Airborne, need an extra bolt?
