How does it make a difference. I know for a fact that "printing" doesnt mean shit. I've "accidentally" open carried (not during hunting season) a glock 17 in Walmart, not one head turn.
I've carried at the 3:30 a glock 17 under a T-shirt when riding my motorcycle, and my T-shirt would happen to fly up pretty high when I got over 10 miles an hour, drove with a Glock 17 wide open with a cop behind me for 3 miles (downtown Corning NY) guess how that traffic stop went.... it didnt because even though he was 1/2 a car length behind me, nothing.
Only people who will notice printing, maybe, are other gun people

It most likely doesn't. I'm just considering the overall attitudes of people towards guns as being more friendly down there. Maybe that's wrong.
Again, you are most certainly correct. Except for maybe a freak chance encounter. Or you are doing it horribly wrong.

I almost opened carried into the post office last week.....now THAT could have been bad! I caught myself in the parking lot......and before the asshats start up.....you can have your gun in the PO parking lot!

It's all location based. You cannot base an experience in one location with another. The same reaction you had in Niagara County for example would be different in Westchester County in Yonkers or in Jersey for example where nobody carries except cops.

I'm pretty new to carrying and the first few times I carried I remember how alert I was trying to subtly notice everyone's behavior and reactions around me that I was certain everyone was noticing me carrying.
No one did. If they did they didn't care.
So as I became more confident I was less worried about wearing a perfect concealing shirt and just started to wear whatever including shorter t shirts that were tight enough you could definitely tell I was carrying if you knew to look. Still no one noticed or cared.
I have decided 90% of people are oblivious and totally wrapped up in what they are doing, their kids are doing, into their phone or their conversation. The majority of people seem to have 0 situation awareness. I haven't once ever noticed anyone having the slightest reaction to me carrying or anyone else carrying.

@Willjr75 is very correct. Location means quite a lot. Here, in my area, I could not care any less than I do about printing. When I am in the Southern tier of the State, I do not even bother covering my gun. When I go to certain places in Buffalo proper, I tend to care a bit more about concealment. (Still does not mean I care a whole shit load).
Some places are tougher compared to other places. Take something as simple as a gun show, we all know that they do not allow people to carry in these shows, at least around me. If you do a poor job of concealment, they will make you unload and ziptie the gun. Wanna keep your loaded gun? Conceal well.

I'm still not comfortable carrying IWB. I generally carry in a coat pocket or vest pocket. This really sucks in the warmer weather.
What about IWB do you not like?

Even with a single stack 9mm like a Shield, not comfortable sitting down no matter which location I wear. I've tried a handful of holsters, no luck. So if I drive somewhere I have to install the holster when I get out of the car. Too exposed at that point.

When I first started carrying 20 some years ago I was consumed with not printing lol. Maybe paranoid at times. After realizing no one was even looking I started to loosen up. Now I don't give a shit if someone see a bump in my shirt. Even better, living in the Southern Tier, no one cares if they see a part of my gun. I can't handle the heat the way I used to so when it's hot out there's no way I'm going to be uncomfortable just to hide my handgun. Most times I now carry with my Safariland ALS OWB and I make no effort to conceal it unless I know I'm going to be spending a lot of time going from store to store with the wife. If I do catch someone looking in that particular location I make sure they stay their distance. Most people aren't a threat, but some might be the type to be grabby if you know what I mean. The only time I've even gotten looks from others would be when I was getting fuel and some yuppy out of stater would be getting gas near by. If it came to spitting hairs with someone, I always have an excuse anyway lol. I could be heading out to the woods for firewood, or coming out of the woods heading home, going hunting, etc etc etc. LEO's in this area don't care. If you're obviously carrying a handgun, they probably figure you have a permit.

Again. Location, location, location. You do a piss poor job of concealing in lower Westchester and one of the sheep calls it in, the police will approach you like gangbusters.
I had a woman in Stop and Shop in Orange County where I live ask me where I worked? I asked her what she meant. She asked me if I worked in the City or locally. I said in the City with a question mark on my face. She said it shows. I said what that I work in the City? She said no and pointed to my waist. I said,"Oh. I'm not a cop but I do work in the city" and pushed my cart away from her. She must have been an off duty cop from the city. They use phrases like on the job a lot.

I was made once years ago when I first started to carry. Sitting at a picnic table with friends when one of them noticed a couple guys behind me looking my way and pointing. Turns out the grip of my pistol was poking against my shirt like a bonner in a speedo. Have since improved to the point that even girlfriends were unaware I was armed until well into the relationship when I knew they were ok with concealed carry

My BIL is a retired cop he is carrying a five seven as of lately in an owb holster the gun hangs out of the bottom of his shirt . he lives in Westchester and never has had an issue. I've accedently had my shirt creep over my pistol while using an owb holster in Westchester and I dont thing anyone even noticed.

Question for the LEO's @GOPerfect @Airborneguy if you are responding to a call/complaint because someone suspects someone of carrying a gun, would the person have to show you the "medical device"? I'm pretty sure there is a difference between a cop just walking up to you and asking you to see something verses responding to a complaint. Is that correct?
