President Joe Biden proposed in his immigration plan released this week that Congress should make available $15 million to cover the costs of private lawyers for “families and vulnerable individuals,” with another $23 million to cover legal orientation programs administered by the Justice Department. The proposal, first outlined in Biden's fiscal year 2022 budget, is the first time that an administration has proposed covering such an expense, and the White House has not shared additional information.
Migrants seeking asylum first appear before an asylum officer, then an immigration judge. If they appeal a judge’s decision, their petition will go before the Board of Immigration Appeals and then reach the federal court. The many steps are another reason why Ries is concerned that the payments could stick taxpayers with an “astronomical” bill.

In 1968, with the passage of the Gun Control Act, the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax Division changed its name to the Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms Division of IRS. There were not 4473s or background checks then and guns were just tools sold in hardware stores.
The 68 GCA was passed with the help of Dixie (Jim Crow) Democrats and the Walter Cronkite Media pushing stories and pictures of Black Panthers exercising their Second Amendment Rights. They convinced white suburbanites and the NRA that Big Black men were coming for their womenfolk and we needed gun control to stop them.
This is why I say Gun Control is rooted in racism and that gun control zealots are racist. I also say we don’t need the ATF anymore. We certainly don’t need this snaggle-toothed smegma licking asshole in charge of it.
Just like the NY Secure Ammunition and Firearms Enforcement Act never enacted the Secure Ammunition part of the NY SAFE should be called NY FE Act. Now with smokers being treated as pariahs and Alcohol being created in craft distilleries, The ATF should be called the F Squad.
