Courts are less likely to reverse lower court's decisions. Skretny had the first dibs and he derailed major legal case against SAFE.
Republican controlled state senate let SAFE pass. Republican appointed Federal Judge upheld it. Republican appointed majority on the SCOTUS did nothing to hold back the wave of bans. Get the picture. Can't blame the democrats, when republicans are just as guilty.

Safe was passed in 2013. Scalia bit it in 2016.

And none of that was NRA work.

Neither the Russian nor the American Armies lost any engagements with their particular foes, those were political defeats owned by non combatants safely ensconced behind piles of the same bullshit they purvey today. Find a better analogy.
