title says it all. I drew my brother in law for Christmas this year. He could use a new knife. I'm looking for a folder, drop point. Suggestions?

I've had good experiences with Kershaw at that price point. Maybe sog if he's into tacticool.

I agree Kershaw. They are nice knives for that price range. Had them for years until I stepped up to benchmade. Not sad I did that. Cabelas had plenty of nice knives for $25-$50.
Thanks for the ideas everyone. I'm leaning towards a Kershaw Blur. He's into tacticool stuff, but nothing too crazy.

Its a comfy one though, nice stable grip. Its a no nonsense, lightweight EDC blade in general. I think its the best knife Kershaw makes. I like it better than the Blur.

I have a Blur Black. Great knife and a really nice feel in your hand. If you look at the picture I put up under My Knife collection, the top right is a Blur, third from the left on the top is a Kershaw Leek and the one dead center is also a Kershaw.
Its way lighter, it doesn't have the speedsafe (I generally dislike assisted systems) yet the action is smoother and still fast, the handle is comfortable and more secure in grip and just more ergonomic(the Blur is still good in this aspect but the Skyline is just better) and I like the blade shape better.
I also like that great big finger choil.

ESEE Zancudo in D2 or ESEE Avispa in D2. Both are less than $50 but both are incredible EDC’s. The Avispa is larger than the Zancudo but still manageable.

There might be better knives but you can't go wrong with any of the Kershaw line.
The Cryo is a hot steaming pile of garbage. In fact I would avoid the Chinese Kershaws in general.

I've had the tenacious, resilience, persistence, cara cara 2,various cold steels, kershaws, etc. The absolute best budgets knife I've had by far is the Ontario Rat 1. Get it in And 8and the steel is easy to touch up. Get it in D2, and you have a long term edge holder.
That being said, I used to be a Benchmade hater\doubter. I bought my first 550 Awhile back on a lark. Now I'm slowly clearing out all those budget knives out of my drawers and my edc gear to make room for benchmades. If one can stretch their wallet to grab a mini grip, grip, freek, or a spyderco Manix 2, I would recommend that. Personally the crowd favorite para military 2 does not do it for me...but it has a huge internet following.
I still have a couple of Aus 8 rat 1s around in case I need a loaner, or a dirty job knife. Never had one fail on me.
A final honorable mention is the by rd raven 2 in ctsbd1. Well receive d, I'm giving one as a gift this Christmas.
