Exactly. This is precisely what the trump administration did with our trade deals with the rest of the world. This success gets exactly ZERO press coverage because this huge win occurred under trump.

The economic illiteracy of this country in general and the press in particular is beyond belief. The US is one of the nations that is NOT DEPENDANT on foreign trade. Roughly 10% of our GDP is tied to imports or exports. This gives us leverage like no other nation has. We can, and should (and under trump did) leverage this to remove any tariffs with other countries. Yet there are people who talked about how trump was engaging in "trade wars" without understanding that most other nations had long standing tariffs on US goods. Trump came into office and correctly said this situation was total horseshit and demanded reductions in tariffs.

Yes, he was a loose cannon. Yes, I cringed most of the times I watched his press conferences. But the sonofabitch propelled this nation's economy like no other president. So all the haters can go fuck themselves in my opinion.
