That's racistWas it on black top or concrete.
They plan to repaint it. Anybody that drives over it and gets paint on their vehicle can file a claim against the city for allowing this to happen.
Oh and FUCK THEM. It's ok for them to try and paint over "racist" historical paintings or destroy statues but they want to cry when their stuff is damaged.
Was going to say the same thing. They're ripping down statues of non Confederates like Grant and the 54th Mass. They just want to cause havoc.
I just don’t fucking care anymore honestly. I haven’t even watched the news in a week or so. I’m over it.That's racist
It's because it's not about equality. It's about revenge for, at least some, of these people.
The burden of proof for systemic racism is on the accuser. I don't personally see a systemic issue. There may be issues of under funding of schools, or very specific things we may be able to make progress on, but that requires we discuss issues and don't have people just burning buildings to the fucking ground. By sticking to the issues, we can identify if they are even issues.
Seeing rioting doesn't make people want to come to the table. It doesn't solve the problems.
I’m not entirely cogent on this yet, but I do think there’s a valid point to be made for systemic racism.
That's kind a tall order to make such an accusation, although I realize you were just mentioning your stance not really putting forth a detailed argument. Also, I'm not really sure what calling out systemic racism (assuming it exists) accomplishes that talking about the individual problems wouldn't do a better job of addressing (both shedding light on possible racism and other potential reasons for a given issue.)
I feel like the accusations for systemic racism are pretty shallow at the moment. I find it similar to arguments for whether an industry has sexism. You get these two second blurbs like "This industry has five times as many men as women. Sexism in this industry must be addressed." Well, ok. It might be grounds to look into whether sexism is an issue -- that's a valid point. However, it doesn't follow that because an industry has five times as many men as women that the underlying cause is sexism or gender discrimination. Similarly, it doesn't follow that certain acts of police are race motivated or even the norm, given a single occurrence.
Point being, while I'm not opposed (as I've said in other threads around here) to the idea that systemic racism is possible... I just find the evidence for it to be extremely lacking compared to the accusation. It's a tall order to call out without a lot of overpowering evidence. I'm personally not yet convinced.
You almost have to be with BLM or against it, and there’s not really room for anyone on either side to say “yeah, I get you, but what about this?”
The destruction of any grey area is a big problem. It means dialogue isn't possible when people aren't interested in drilling down via conversations into those underlying assumptions.
Whenever I hear anyone mention absolutes, my bullshit detector goes off.
People are constantly confusing a cultural issue for a racial one. You’re not wrong to tiptoe around that. Race is an issue in America, I just don’t think any of the big dogs have it right. The internet and social media doesn’t give a lot of room for nuance, so it’s kinda hard to call out both sides and say that nobody is really wrong or right. You almost have to be with BLM or against it, and there’s not really room for anyone on either side to say “yeah, I get you, but what about this?”
It’s sad, and possibly becoming scary. I don’t want scary. I’d like us to all respect each other. We can disagree without being dicks.
So when I say I absolutely want assholes of every persuasion to leave me alone, does your bullshit detector go off? Just checking how sensitive that detector is...The destruction of any grey area is a big problem. White walled tires....Black tires matter?

Safety issue. Pretty sure the paint used is not nonslip designed for roads.I say, these towns need to paint over all of these racist statements that are polluting the roads of America.
Someone should start the realist "most lives just don't matter" movement.Race is an issue in nearly every freaken nation around the World. We see it strong here due to ignorance and the Main Stream Media. It is not any worse here than many other Countries.
There has always been race issues and there will always be race issues. There are issues of religion all around us. There are issues of financial status. For those offended by it of affected by it, deal with it or allow it to consume you.
As for the stupid BLM movement... I am against every bit of it. The words, the meanings, the demands; all of it. Absolute fucking joke of a movement. Means nothing, nothing at all.
Why should we all respect one another? Serious question.
