For years my deer hunting partner and I wish we could talk to each other while in our separate stands. We didnt want to use walkie talkies because of the obvious noise they create. We never did much research into it until my other buddy and I went to one of the neighbors farm who was complaining about the coyotes killing his livestock.
So we were at this farm, buddy was sitting about 10yds to the left of me with a hedgerow right behind him. I was sitting on the end of the hedgerow with nothing behind me but an open field.
5 mins after calling,,, one came half way up the field behind me, he must of crossed the road behind me. I couldnt shoot because of the road and because there were 2 houses over in that direction. When it made it halfway through the field it must of saw me. It didnt smell me because wind was blowing from behind the yote and straight towards me. So after this happened I tipped toed over to my buddy to tell him. Then tip toed back over to my spot.
Less than 5 mins later another one came out to the left of both of us. I kept it in my sights because I was going to shoot if my buddy missed. Well a couple of mins go by and it headed back into the woods and I was like WTF. So I tip toed over to my buddy and said how come you didnt shoot and he said he never saw it. He was sitting down and I was standing up when it came out. 5 mins later I believe the same coyote came back out of the woods way to our right and heading directly towards the farm. The closest spot for a shot was 300 plus yds. Not the easiest shot at night time.
So the next day after our little farm protection job was over I went searching and ended up buying 2 each of the following items. They hook together. They just came in and after 5 mins of using them,,,,,I really liked them. They have a 2-3 mile talking distance. They are voice activated if you want, its a menu item. They work really nice when in voice activation mode. Bionic hearing can be turned all the way down so it doesnt work but you can still hear clearly when someone is speaking to you through the walkie. So far they seem pretty sweet. I actually like the bionic hearing these muffs give you. I have another pair in the basement I use for chuck hunting with my 6 creedmoor because it has a muzzle brake but those muffs dont have a jack for a walkie attachment. I will update this post after using them on the first hunt.
