Buildings in the cobblestone district in Buffalo are ablaze and they were involved in an eminent domain battle last year

Doesn’t take a detective to figure out the owner who had these building stolen from them set them on fire…. Or maybe it was an accident. If he set them on fire so the city can’t steal them from him you all know how I feel about it. I won’t say in hopes I sit on his jury panel one day.

Burning out people that won't move/capitulate to the desires of others is nothing new, and while it's not as likely as decades before, I have suspicions when contested property suddenly is set ablaze....you buy those seats in government, and once your man is in place, he'll vote the way YOU tell him.=

I’m wondering if the guy who had the buildings taken from him set it ablaze. Maybe they will never know but they were old historic buildings that surely would not survive a fire. Of course the city council knows what’s best and not the guy that owns them. I guess I get if a new road or some infrastructure needs to be built justifying eminent domain with excessive compensation to the owner but this was simply we can do better with these buildings and make them draw people here so we will take them. That is simply unjust, not that all eminent domain isn’t but this is worse.

Sometimes, old buildings are a detriment to the value of the land underneath, probably the case here................the owner will make out..........demo will happen, and INS will pay the owner for the limit of the ins...... if he had any................and demo will happen...$50k, or so leaving extremely valuable land, that will end up being litigated in the NYS Ct of Claims, if eminent domaine happens.... and the owner will make out 2x value, if history can be believed.

The only person who can set the value of a thing is the owner.

If he doesn't think your offer is high enough, then the value is higher.

Eminent Domain, is in the Constitution...........the NYS Court of Claims, is a political court, that 99% of the time overpays the victims of ED.

It has been used mainly for roads, schools, etc, but when Cities use it for urban renewal to help corrupt developers get cash to use to bribe the same the City Officials............welcome to NYS.

Remember the Thruway Authority, the Power Authority the various bridge authorties, all make profit that is stolen each year, by unknown persons...........probably a total of 4 billion a year..........in NYS.
