Built a shooting bench today.

Well I went ahead and built my own shooting bench today. I used 36" galvanized pipe 1 1/4" for the front and 1 1/2" for the rear leg. It is made of of 3/4 inch plywood sandwiched together with glue and screws. The deck is 54" x 32" with a cutout of 15"X 22" on the right side ( I am a southpaw). At this height I don't have to hunch over when I shoot and only need a seat height of 19". My 20 year old computer chair fits the bill there so I am set. Right now the first coat of almond color enamel paint is drying. I am relaxing while watching paint dry. Oh btw this does not count as working around the house (so I am told).

Leaving them like that only capped so sand and crap won't get in them. I put shims under one side of each of the base the leg screws into so there is a slight angle outwards to them.

Im about to burn my entire shooting hut down and build it new.
About 15 years ago one of the local ranges was building all new shacks. I asked if I could have tje old stuff and they said, "hell yea".
I did not secure it to the ground so after 15 years it has wighled apart 342 times at least. Im tired of mending it. The wood is old and splintering, its gotta burn.
Im going from 5 benches to 2 benches.....maybe 3.
I like to set up different guns at different distances and using all three at once......well, you know what I mean.

Yeah I usually alternate rifles so the barrels don't get too hot. Plus if you have more than one there sometimes the winds favor one over the others.

You could use it right handed if you turned it 90 degrees, it would be like riding the short but though.

If I could shoot at the house I'd build a nice shooting bench like that but that can never happen being with in the city limits, I'm stuck with a fold up plastic 2' X 4' table and fold up chairs.

I go out it the woods to shoot so I need something portable that doesn't take up to much space it the truck.

Nice simple design, all you need now is four post and a roof over it to keep the sun off and the rain out.

this is portable, the legs screw right off. I have a 10x10tent if I need to be out of the rain. Some citronella candles will keep the skeeters and black flies away. I am set!

I'd be down for that. Maybe @NirvanaFan can help us out on that, since he and I are looking to build a shooting bench and target stands. I just completed/upgraded a work bench I got from a friend this weekend, so we could definitely share ideas there.

Nice project. I've been threatening to build one for a couple years but I keep holding off seems I'm looking for property. I've been tempted to just put a platform on my shed roof lol. Don't laugh too hard, it's just enough elevation to see part of the field that drops off. Shooting chucks and coyotes from 50ish yds to 520ish yds, sometimes they travel that dip and I never see them.
I'm tired of shooting prone from a bipod

I assume he just used standard threaded flanges like these.

I would have added ones on the bottom as well if it wasn't going to be used on a hard surface.

Nice simple design, but the legs might need support bars to prevent swaying.
