All stripped down.
Cut the front sight and bayonet lug off. Barrel is cut down to 18.5 inches. Now I need to just crown the barrel. With a 16" barrel, the oal would be 26". I didn't want to cut quite that much off,. My oal should end up at just under 29"

There's a PA forum member that has that same thing offered it to me for $50 I might get it just only have to get another SKS since I sold the one's I had
The long, skinny barrel looks a bit goofy coming out of the bullpup stock, hence the cutdown. Here's the barrel threaded adapter, and kineti-tech barrel shroud to remedy that. This is a 1/2x28 thread adapter that fits perfectly on the end of the sks barrel where the front sight post was pinned to. The shroud is for a 1/2x28 9mm which will work for the 7.62.

I would rather use the stock box magazine on the sks, but to be 922 compliant I will be using the tapco 20 Rd magazine body. These are the most reliable mags for the sks, and are now discontinued, and hard to find. I managed to find a few that are limited to 5 rounds. One I will modify to 10 rounds for this build, the other I will keep at 5 rounds for hunting use.
Unfortunately using these detachable mags would make the sks an "assault weapon" in Cuomoland, so more modifications are necessary to the mags. Drilling a hole in the mag in the right spot, and inserting a pin will allow the magazine to be locked in place by the trigger group, just like the stock sks box mag. Now it's back to NY legal.
Unfortunately, the tapco mags are the best for the sks, but don't allow use of stripper clips. Since we can't use detachable mags, I definitely wanted to remedy this. A little material removable to the back of the feed lips will allow the use of stripper clips in my fixed mag. Stock mag on left, modified mag on the right.

The sgworks bullpup stock has overwhelmingly great reviews, but horrible customer service. Some people have waited longer than a year to receive their stock. I myself have ordered last April on the 16th. As you can see here, they are about a month or so from building and shipping mine. I'm keeping my fingers crossed, and won't have much more to post until it comes in
Has the sgworks stock? That's a great deal if the parts are there. Only problem might be if he fitted it to his already. Yeah, I wanted one years ago. Saw all the complaints and decided against it. Last year I bought an sks, and decided to go ahead with it. It's getting closer, so I'm glad I did.

What the hell was I thinking?
It's kind of funny, but I've recently posted a couple build threads, and a thread about my laser training simulator. Everybody bitches about how little gun talk there is here, and most the actual gun threads garner little attention. Including mine. Anyhow.What do you think this is ? A gun forum

I think a lot of the good gun threads probably get a lot of reading without much comment.
I think this thread is excellent, and I'm really enjoying it, but I don’t have much to add besides "great job".
The ones that go on forever are the ones with a heated discussion, but that doesn't make them "better".
Yep, there's no mag lock vs featureless in this thread to carry on for 5 pages.
Speaking of the arguing, and heated discussion, where's Will? Haven't heard from him in a while, and I know he's had one of these in the past. Now I have to look and see if he's banned.

I ordered an SGworks stock and ended up having to call my bank to get my money back because they didn't answer the phone or reply to any emails.
I only found out how horrible they were with custom service after reading the comments on their FB page.
I'm going the way of a Fab Defense stock and building an AK style.
I was also looking into the left handed bullpup stock from CBPRS. Their stocks are a little weird though, it has a trigger mechanism that works like a huge trigger bar to activate the actual factory trigger.
I only found out how horrible they were with custom service after reading the comments on their FB page.
I'm going the way of a Fab Defense stock and building an AK style.

(vi) a flash suppressor, muzzle break, muzzle compensator, or threaded
barrel designed to accommodate a flash suppressor, muzzle break, or
muzzle compensator;
(vii) a grenade launcher
With that said, a bullpups design does not have "

If you kept the stock internal magazine in there and used stripper clips I think it MIGHT be ok but not 100% sure. It technically is a locked magazine which would let you have features such as a pistol grip and muzzle device.
My SKS lives in my place in PA so I don't have to deal with all that bullshit.

Problem in NYS is that everything is written so vague so its a problem interpreting anything and it depends on the LE who does. It's the similar situation for things like hyperswitches and mag locks.

I live in NYC so I pay extra attention and details to the penal codes both local and state because of the non sense. Anything fun, I keep at my place in PA so I don't run into any potential issues.

I guess so. I was reading it as below the action, not forward of it. I shall keep the mag fixed.
