"City 911 received reports of shots fired near Main and Rose Streets on Sunday and dispatched several patrol units and officers assigned to the Gun Involved Violence Elimination (GIVE) unit to the area. First arriving officers heard additional gunshots and moved toward the gunfire on foot."


FYI, that is the short version name of the team.
The full version is Gun Involved Violence Elimination Assessed Special Handling Investigation Team.

The manpower shortage has arisen as recruiting for the team has fallen short. Many Officers have been asked if they'd want to join the team but most just don't.
