IMO, Removing the cosmoline is a prerequisite for a "new" SKS or Mosin Nagant.
It's a pain in the ass and a time consuming process but when done properly, gives the new owner a greater appreciation of the firearm and its inner workings.

I'm pissed that I only have two in my collection.. But I am happy that I only payed $89 for them back in the day you tripped over crates of them at any gun show.. I'd like a few more but I just can't talk myself into paying todays price for them..

I have two Russian SKS's. One with laminated stock and one with plain stock. I ruined one of them by doing the Bubba aftermarket modifications. I drilled the receiver for a solid scope mount, installed muzzle brake and put it into a nice aftermarket dragunov stock. It came out very nice and shot well, but I killed the character of that vintage rifle just to have a second rate safe queen. This was 25 years ago, I am still kicking myself. I paid $95 and $110 for laminated.

Only other place I've seen them for around $300 is Canada and they aren't importing them

I bought mine almost 20 years ago for $147.00

I think it was the first semi-auto rifle i bought actually. Should have bought everyone at on the rack at Numrich if i had known better.

I have a YUGO with the grenade launcher on it. I bought it a couple of decades ago. Shortly after I bought it, I was on e-bay and saw a decommissioned grenade (I think the guy wanted like $40 for it!!), I didn't buy it because I thought they would always be available!! Needless to say, I haven't seen 1 since.
I had it out last week just for a fun day at the range.

I'd do this and cerakote in armor black. Dammit...now I'm contemplating another project.

I remember buying one from Thruway Sporting Goods for $99 in the early 90's. It was a bitch to clean all the grease off of. I wish I had held onto it. They also sold the ranch model new in the box for $89.

Got one of the cracked stock sks’s. It has a bent barrel. Called Classic and said the rifle is not functional. Sent them pics today. Waiting to hear back. Hopefully they make good on it.

Probably bottom of the crate just bend it back some say they have a bad track record I never had issues with them hopefully they'll step up
