Cmmg .22 conversion

Anyone here ever used one? I'm in the middle of building another ar pistol. I already have an 8.5" 300blk, now I'm building a 10.5" 556 for cheaper plinking. (Actually going to perm attach flash can to make an "other"} Anyways it has a 1/7 twist barrel which I know sucks for .22. What I'd like to know is if I do a 50 yard 556 zero, and decide to buy the 22 conversion, can I expect to group 22lr within about 2" of poa within 25-50 yards? Im not interested in re zeroing to just shoot 22. If it's close, I'll do it.

I have one. I haven't used it in a while but if my memory serves me correctly, I was on an 8" plate at the distances you mentioned. This was out of a 16" 1/8 twist 5r rifled bbl. Feeding and cycling was reliable, but the 5.56 barrel has the wrong twist rate for 22.

Yeah I know the twist is bad and am not expecting accuracy. Just wanted to know if impact will be in the ballpark. Thanks.

Didn't mean to sound patronizing. I think it would be. You may need to use some Kentucky windage but it shouldn't be too off.

I've got one. I don't think I ever shot it for groups, but its accurate enough to be fun shooting at reactive targets.

That is without having to re adjust the sights from 556 loads correct?

Windage was pretty close, elevation was off a bit. Close enough for steel plates and a rubber ground target though.
