A South Carolina congresswoman is stocking up on firearms and taking target practice after her home was vandalized.



Rep. Nancy Mace said she decided to carry a weapon after a Memorial Day incident when profanity and anarchist symbols were scrawled in spray paint on her Charleston property, according to Fox News.

“It doesn’t feel good that I feel like I have to look behind my shoulder every day. It doesn’t feel safe,” the Republican freshman lawmaker told the network. “I carry a gun wherever I go today. Wherever I’m allowed to, I do carry.”

It wasn't too long ago the SC refused to reconize (to some degree) CCW Licenses. When you'd look at one of those reciprosity maps they were blacked out like NY.

I don't think South Carolina has reciprocity with ANY state. You have to be a resident with a permit to carry.

From what I understand if you own property you can get a permit.. Some folks will sell you one square foot of land and then they get their permit.

That sounds a bit of a tall tale to me. Wouldn't the state need an actual address?

There are some onerous anomalies yes but there aren't restrictions on magazine capacities, no "evil features" restrictions, I don't think you need a permit to simply own or purchase and handgun either.

They don't have anything comparable to the safe act either, it's normal-land for features, mags etc nothing restrictive.

Their biggest drawback is it's not friendly to out of state pistol licenses and I believe for SC residents it's fairly easy to get a conceal carry license (anyone can buy/own a pistol no license needed, only need a license to carry) is that SC carry laws are more restrictive than NY laws are.


I'll gladly take SC laws over NY laws any day of the week. Just comparable to NC, GA, FL, TN, is that SC falls short of those other southern neighbor states.

With the usual exceptions for commie coven residents permits are very easy to obtain and the PA exemption clause, which is part of the state constitution, that prevents municipalites from passing gun legislation stricter that state laws ( and this has been invoked successfully in courts numerous times, most recently in Pittsburgh when the mayor tried to enacted his own "Assault Weapons" ban) and the most stealth pro gun feature: no gun signs have no force of law. This means I can legally ignore them, the worst that could happen is that I am asked to leave.

True, but if you want to leave home with said firearms, you best read up on the laws first. Having a gun in a safe at home doesn’t do me much good. In NY we can at least carry our guns basically anywhere we want.
