CZ 455 Upgrade

I recently upgraded my CZ 455 22LR with a CZ 22LR heavy barrel and Boyd's thumb-hole stock. I'll make a proper range report when after I do some ammo testing and have broken in the barrel a bit. I still have less that 250 rounds through it. But, the results have been very encouraging.

I'm current working on my centerpiece rifles for deer season. But, I did sight-in the refitted CZ for squirrels.

Is the barrel from CZ or another brand?

Aftermarket barrels for CZ are really spendy and a little too rich for me. This barrel is a factory barrel from CZ. Barrel sets for the CZ455 are really easy to install. Right now I have a 22 LR sporter barrel, a 17 HMR sporter, and this 22LR heavy barrel. The heavy barrel wouldn't fit in the factory stock without modification and I wanted to be able to reverse the mod, if necessary.

The laminate stock and heavy barrel make the entire rig more than 50% heavier. It weighs close to 10 pounds. This works for still squirrel hunting because I'm not hiking around and I'm not carrying a heavy pack.

If I was to hunt a place that required a substantial walk-in, I would bring the Henry H001, which is less than half the weight.

I didn't know that CZ sold barrels, now I do!

I have the same Boyd's thumbhole stock for my Ruger 77/22. I got it semi-inlet and had to finish it myself it was a lot of sanding but I enjoyed it! ( I do need to open the channel a bit more it was touching the barrel just haven't gotten to it)
