I just need to vent

it seems if you're a small business, we're not allowed to get a stimulus check, for anything. Unless you're a $20M a year "small business", then the government will trip over themselves to give you money

If you're a sole proprietor, and you burned through your working capital, and now into your "emergency fund", you basically get nothing. No Payroll (because we don't take a paycheck) no help with lost income and if you PAY taxes every year, (even electronically) you can not get a $1200 stimulus money direct deposited. The IRS has said they will SNAIL MAIL a check on or about May 1st, If you received a refund electronically, you get your check immediately, hope my bank understands why my truck payments will be a couple days late.

The unemployment system is a complete cluster fuck. My wife applied for unemployment 5 weeks ago. The website says if you applied call the land line, once on the land line they tell you to go to the website. Then they improved the system so that when you go the website, they tell you call the phone line, but the Catch-22 system is now mush faster

This is a normally slow time of year for the HVAC companies, we all know it, we all plan for it, but a Pandemic? no one saw coming and certainly NO ONE saw a nation wide shutdown coming. Now the weather IS NOT HELPING by not warming up. Im starting to schedule a/c cleanings, but many people are so paranoid about this stupid virus, they want to hold off till things settle down. whenever the hell that is.

Oh well, shit happens, one way or another Im retiring next year. fuck it

Been sole proprietor small contracting biz for over 30 yrs. , paid into the ny UI the entire time as required by law, even though I am unable to utilize the UI by same law.

30+F'n yrs. and never asked for a nanny nickel.

So this chicom bug hits and I am decreed by herr cuomo to stay home ,except for emergency calls. wtf.
I had two projects sitting almost done when this shit happened , customers are cool ; but no completion no $.

So I have to look to nanny state for help, ie: FED FUNDED pandemic assisance. Elgibility is here->FUAC

Going on six weeks now since my application info was confirmed. I get a message that I need to speak to a specialist(being self employed) to complete the process and they will call me. SIX weeks now gone by.

No call backs and caling them is a fruitless phone mail hell (10 min. per call at least, press 1 for english.

.etc..) & then the perpetual hangup from nyDOL.

Counting down the moments until the kids are out of school and I can be with free America.

Getting the circle jerkaround for the entire time. Cannot complete claim , they just hang up. From the NYSDept. of Labor- FYI, the link below will show who is eligible for the Pandemic assistance.

I just switched, recently, from a sole proprietor to an S-Corp for tax reasons. Otherwise, I'm in the same boat. Work affords me about 1-2 months between contract projects where they guarantee me work, but otherwise if work dries up I'm on my own / my own emergency fund after that.

End of the day, the only one you can count on is yourself. The government, specifically the left, only cares about the poor. They don't care about the middle class, or working classes, because they can't buy those votes with easy money. They can't keep us on the dole, because we're self-reliant and self-made. We're not bought by government pensions, welfare checks, or other tax perks to keep us voting or behaving a certain way like the ultra poor and ultra rich. We're up and coming, and no one cares about that class of people.

Only we can save ourselves, and we will.

Agree that we should've been talking about how to work "safely" rather than "shutting down" from day one. You can't expect people to give up everything, on top of not compensating them.

Last I checked, my $951 per month healthcare was only half deductible. If I was poor, it'd be all free money in my pocket monthly since I'd wind up getting it free.

The only way to do the shutdown without the government way overstepping it's authority would have been for them to pay businesses to shut down.

If it's in the public interest to shut down that nail salon for a couple months, the .gov can pay for every appointment they would have booked with the condition that they aren't allowed to schedule any more.

Anything else is a 5th ammendment violation (among others). They have "taken" your ability to earn a living without compensation.
