Not a fan of Marlins recently.
My 336 was a remington made rifle, and the fit and finish is not good at all and the action was very rough (still is), granted its a deer rifle and it doesnt need to look nice.
My fathers 1895 is JM marked, made when Marlins were real Marlins, and that rifle is 1000x's the rifle, both in fit and finish, and function.
Personally I would find an older JM marked rifle (they do fetch a premium today). Either way, the 1895 is an amazing rifle.
