The title isn't really adequate here. This wasn't a fight or a shootout. It was full compliance. Taking in consideration that most shootings through self defense are happening within a very close distance, (usually less than 20 feet I believe it is) having a knife wielding attacker can very easily lead to your demise if anything goes wrong with your gun or you don't get good enough shot placement. A knife for self defense often times can be more effective than having a gun. I can sprint 20 feet with a knife before you could probably get a shot on target from IWB. Just think if the knife wielding guy was threatening the ccw guy as his main target before he even drew the gun...

Knife wounds are rarely fatal.
I think the guy with the gun was unsure of whether he would get in trouble with the law for drawing, that's why you're seeing the hesitation. It's too bad people are so afraid of getting arrested they hesitate to do the right thing.

im so tired of this .. i would have went bang bang and dropped his fin ass . knife in the back and no idea what he would do and under 21 feet ... drop him ... he got off lucky .. but us tax payers have to support him him now ..

It's been demonstrated that with a "holstered gun" a knife wielding bad guy "can" cover 20 feet and successfully injure or kill. BUT.....it has been proven also, that when a bad guy has a drawn handgun on him, his chances of success are nil at the same 20 feet. Personally, I prefer the drawn/on target scenario

I think that knife wound would have been fatal. That was a large knife and in an important and critical area. The ccw guy did seem unsure, but we can't speculate what was in his head. He was probably nervous and did not want to shoot the lady standing behind the perp. I think that's why he slow and moves to the side.

that was my thought, there is a nice shopping cart between the combatants, the guy with the gun did a good job. NOW! had the guy NOT dropped the knife, it would have been over a lot sooner
