What are peoples opinions on dry lube?
When I bought my Ruger 10/22 last year it was suggested by my gun guy and several Youtube videos to only use dry lube on semi auto rifles.
Ive had many semi auto rifles and shotguns over the last 35 years and have always used CLP on them and a drop of oil on certain parts without issue.
So, living in the internet age I emailed Ruger.
They replied almost immediately with "yes" use dry lube on the 10/22.
They said CLP or solvent are fine but use dry lube on this firearm instead of straight gun oil.
I will say that after many cleanings and many hours of in the field use, this gun is like brand new inside.
Maybe im just ignorant and its well know info.
After all, my family were non gun owners so my friends dad taught me everything. He was the type of guy that would slap used axel grease on his guns.
For my first 25 years I used the Hoppes kits in the orange plastic cases.
Ten years ago I went CLP and drips of oil.
