Dumb things overheard at gun stores

So I stopped at the LGS the other day and overheard the counter guy and a customer talking. My ears perked up when I heard the clerk mention something about a proposed idea of having identifying confetti shoot out of ammo cases when fired. The customer replied by saying he thought it was a great idea. Then this Einstein goes on to say that he has no problem with “them” (I’m assuming the manufacturers) making guns as expensive as possible. I think he meant for the purposes of gun control. It took me a while to process his stupid remarks and I regret not saying anything to the village idiot.

Anyone else ever overhear any doozies at the local gun store, show or range?

I was in a now defunct gun store in Middletown, looking over the pistols in the display case. I noticed a little brass sparkle in a revolver...then in another. I mentioned to the owner that it looked like a couple of revolvers were loaded. He told me he likes to keep a few loaded incase he gets robbed.

When Cabela's first opened here in Buffalo, I listened as one of the resident experts told an older gentleman that there was a mandatory 10 year prison sentence if in his defence, he used reloaded ammunition.

So I was with my buddy (older guy) at a gun show looking for a P365 or Hellcat for him to get his hands on and try. We ask about those two and tell the vendor we're looking for something for him to carry concealed. This asshole pulls out a .25 ACP Phoenix and says that it's great little carry gun that "only has one less round than the ones you're looking for."

I was at cabela's few months back, browsing the ol, black powder pistols, I asked the guy ,you dont need a pistol permit for these do you? he said no, but you cant shoot it without one. HUH?

Surprisingly true. Owning a black powder revolver is fine. You can get it shipped straight to your door. I forget exactly what the law says, but it's something to the effect that it's legal to own without a pistol license unless you also possess the items needed to make it fire (powder, projectiles, caps).

I was in a Local Motorcycle shop looking at the dirt bikes years ago..and I hear a guy come up to us/ me and salesman, and asks....so..."how many RPM's are up in this thing".........as he points to a RM125 we were chatting in front of.

I had a guy at cabelas showing me semi auto pistols and he tried to put the mag in backwards, didn’t know how to takedown the gun, and couldn’t close the slide. I hate cabelas gun counter and I don’t even stop anymore.
I asked to look at a 20 gauge shotgun for my son to Turkey hunt with and the guy hands me the .410. I look at the tag and say he only wants to turkey hunt and you can’t with a .410 I need the 20 gauge. He says we don’t have one and you’ll have to take that one. I said no he can’t hunt with it can you order me in the 20 gauge? He said no that’s illegal for you to do. I said I know that’s why I’m asking you to order it for me and have it shipped here and ill pick it up here. He says again that’s illegal for you to do that. I again explain I’m asking you to order it to the store, I’ll come in when it arrives and do the background check with you here and take the gun then. He starts with sir that’s illegal for you to do and I just said forget it, it’s not illegal and I’m done good bye.
I also went to cabelas to get my son a left-handed .22 LR that savage makes and they are a savage dealer. I ask the manager if they have it no. So I said can you order it for me they make one. He says no they don’t. I said here it is on savages website and you’re a dealer so I’m assuming you can order me in one. No we don’t do that. I went to gander mountain and 10 minutes I paid the $186.00 and walked out the door to pick it up a week later after it arrived.
I do zero business with cabelas gun counter and I never will again. I’m done with them. Any survey they send me I give high marks and say your gun counter is horrible. I hear they don’t even take the trigger locks off anymore.

Years ago I was at the range shooting varius handguns and had had several calibers of handloaded ammo out on the bench and some guy watched me for a bit and then said " you shouldn't shoot all those lead bullets, it will wear out your barrel" aah ok.

I was in a gun shop one day with my wife, trying to find a carry gun for her. The usual hangers-on were around - you know the type: they're not shopping, they don't work there, they're just hanging around the shop, but often kind of act like they work there.

My wife wanted something simple, so a double-action revolver seemed to be the way to go... just point and shoot. The shop worker took the gun out and set it on the counter for us. One of the hangers-on reached in front of us and picked up the gun, and started sort of sales-pitching us. Expressed the value of simplicity, the ability to point and shoot. Then decided to demonstrate this by pointing the gun at the wall and repeatedly dry-firing it.

The shop worker didn't say anything, but his look of utter disgust made it clear how he felt.

heard a gun store employee tell a woman buying her first conceal carry gun that only a snub nose 357mag with full power loads is the ideal conceal carry gun for her and not to get a Glock 43X as it shoots that wimpy 9mm.

both times I asked the gun store employee if said calibers were so wimpy and non threatening would he be okay if I shot him with them. Weird that he said no considering how he was talking about them being wimpy and non threatening.

Actually it’s not really a new thing. Tasers deploy tons of this confetti with identifying numbers on them when deployed.

Not so much what I heard but I was recently at a gun shop and this guy came in needing to sell some guns because he was going through a hard time and needed the money. He started taking out all of these non SAFE act compliant rifles and me and the guy behind the counter just looked at each other and shook our heads and had a little laugh.
