Heading to Erie PA tonight. Going to get dinner for a nephews birthday and see what else we can find to do. I'm going to open carry while there using a Safariland ALS holster. I think he wants to go to Texas Roadhouse to eat. I searched and found no policies anywhere online regarding carrying in their restaurants. Anyone have any experience with them? Anything else you think I should know? I know to avoid state parks and the usual common sense stuff. Thanks!

They prohibit open carry in Texas and post 30.07 signs but embrace concealed carry and do not post 30.06 signs as a matter of policy. I would be suprised if corporate policy would differ among franchises in other states, although I have seen acceptance of open carry in PA TX Roadhouse franchises but it was over a year ago.
It is defacto legal to open carry in PA IF you are not prohibited from owning that gun. BUT, if you do not have a PA concealed carry permit, it is illegal to open carry in a vehicle.

I do have PA and any state permit overrules vehicle carry law u mention.
I don’t see the point in even owning a gun. You can just call 911 if you need help.

OC went great. Ended up going to Outback because the other place was a 2 hour wait. Outback I know has a no guns allowed policy so I covered up. All other stores we went into were without a hitch. I don't even think many or any customers even noticed. I did have a few cashiers definitely look at it while I was checking out at the register. None looked startled or alarmed. They are probably used to it. Everyone was polite and there was no problems. There were also no sharp shooters trying to take me out before they pulled off a heist or mass casualty incident.
And just what were you expecting from a State that respects the Constitutional Right to open carry??????
Nothing. That's why I did it. The response is for those who think that there is going to be some event that they dreamt up happening. Some professional criminal enterprise ring stalking you out to eliminate you before they rob the Crown Jewels or some Leonardo da Vinci painting. In reality people are just going about their business not paying attention to anyone else.

You're completely misguided in your thoughts my friend. I'll go out on a limb and speak for all the naysayers and let them refute my assertion guessing not one of them will disagree.
Nobody here implied that OC would get you into trouble with the law and not get you into a confrontation causing you to have to draw. What we're saying is that if you happened to be in the unfortunate situation where a nefarious character had intent to cause serious damage you could put yourself into the situation where the perp sees your weapon and targets you first. You'd be his immediate threat since it is guaranteed you're carrying. Others might be concealed carrying but you're the obvious threat. The others could have the opportunity to back up the initial attack whereby you're already removed from the game.
We all make our own decisions on CC vs OC, as is each of our right. I prefer to keep my advantage my OPSEC.
And 45 of the 50 States respect the Constitutional right to Open Carry so just what did you prove?

Funny I’ve been to PA a few times and I was in Idaho and I’ve never seen anyone open carrying. Just curious did you see anyone else’s gun while you were there?

I know alot pf gun owners in a dozen states at least.
Every single person I know personally and every single person ive heard of online who open carry, do it to show off.....every literal one of them.
Any respectable self defense professional will advise concealed carry when you can.
I know a guy who CONSTANTLY bitches about not being able to open carry in NYS. His answer to this issue is to show everyone his handgun. He drinks in bars and shows all his friends his gun. He has showed complete strangers.
Why???? Because he thinks hes cool and wants to impress people. This is the same for EVERY open carry proponent ive ever heard of.
If your reason for carrying a gun is to protect your life, open carrying isnt very smart.
Also, I live on the PA border and have some expierience with open carrying in PA. Not myself, but acquaintances.
One guy had a Warren Co sheriff pull a gun on him in McDonalds when the cop saw him reaching towards his gun. The cop disarmed him, ran his info, ran his serial number and returned his gun.
He complained to the sheriffs department and they suggested that he could fileva complaint or a lawsuit, they welcomed both.
Another guy who was open carrying in Harbor Creek PA got in an argument in a convenience store with an employee.
Cops showed up and immediately disarmed the open carrier and hasseled him for 30 minutes, then returned his gun and he left......never resolving the isdue with the clerk. The cops were solely worried about the gun.
Why open yourself to these issues?
If you need to constantly try to prove your freedom, are you free?

I don't even like anyone, certainly don't need to "show off" for anyone. You know when people use words like "everyone" that they are full of it and the argument ends there.
That's your opinion. Other opinions go the other way. Locations and situations are different.
Seems like you need new friends. Not sure who reaches for guns around police and who gets into an argument with a convenience store clerk? CC, OC, or no carry at all who does that?! You need to be calm and level headed no matter how you carry. Sounds like your buddy just needs to leave his gun at home until he can mature and cool down.
If you need to hide and only use your rights in secret, are you actually free? If you can only pray in secret and need to hide your bible do you actually have that right?

If you're confident and want to exercise your rights - go for it! I don't need a reason to exercise my rights. I don't need approval either.
Looking the part also goes a long way to insuring there are no problems. Clean cut, well groomed, nicely dressed, polite - everyone was warm and friendly with me. Even had a rougher looking guy with his friend say "excuse me, sir, your back for is open" as I was walking up to a building to throw garbage out. I told him I knew and thank you. That might have something to do with having a good experience.
Or be a bum and get into fights with store clerks - what do I know??!!
Regardless of whether one has the right to, I would advise carrying concealed as opposed to open. I have open carried from time to time in PA, mostly to and from the range, once while helping out a neighbor with an abusive boyfriend, but you sidestep potential hassel carrying concealed. Also in PA "no gun" signs do not carry force of law so you can carry pretty much anywhere concealed regardless, the worst an establishment could do should they make you is ask you to leave. And if you are concealed carrying that shouldn't even come up. Open carrying they can refuse you at the door and if you enter anyway you are trespassing at that point.
