Love Demo Ranch!
Hey, it's almost Friday. Thanks for giving me another reason to hate New York, @ArmedCorgi.
So would the mini roni just be considered an accessory that you wouldn't need to amend your permit for, since you are using your registered pistol and it doesn't change the caliber? To be fair you can buy everything in that video except the 18 round mag.
Yes. And I also meant 33 round mag lol.So would the mini roni just be considered an accessory that you wouldn't need to amend your permit for, since you are using your registered pistol and it doesn't change the caliber?
I looked at the Roni many years ago for a regular Glock. Got all excited, but soon found out we can't have it in NY.
Not only that but it would be a semi auto rifle that can take a detachable mag.I was in the market for something similar. The Mech Tech a while back. I posted the question and people here told me that the chassis is a barrel shroud since it completely encircles the barrel and a second handgrip.
I argued against it but I can see how it can be used against you.
Well my plan was to never attach a stock to it and use a brace instead. Not only that but it would be a semi auto rifle that can take a detachable mag.
Then you'd need a useless fixed magazine. You could do that but it would get pricey. I'd rather build one of these.
PSA 10.5" 5.56 NATO 1/7 Nitride Classic Shockwave Pistol Kit, Black - 5165449715
I forget why. Is it because the mag is outside the grip? Then you'd need a useless fixed magazine.
That and over 50 ounces.I forget why. Is it because the mag is outside the grip?
Ugh. I forget about these silly laws more and more as time goes on. I think you'd be better to go the roni route than the mag tech if it's still something you'd want to do.That and over 50 ounces.
Too late. I've got a heavy, long Ruger PCC instead. The Roni does have the 2nd handgrip built in so it wouldn't be legal.Ugh. I forget about these silly laws more and more as time goes on. I think you'd be better to go the roni route than the mag tech if it's still something you'd want to do.

You can own one in NY. You just can't have the one with an actual stock. You can own the Roni with the stabilizer.
There was some back and forth with this topic with BATFE but the ruling was overturned back in April 2017 and the Stabilizer model is once again able to be shouldered and is not considered to be an NFA item and does not require the tax stamp.
Negatory.. the brace one still has a pic rail to add a forgrip
Mine does not.
On their website the Stabilizer version also does not have the picatinny rail to support a foregrip.
Micro RONI® Stabilizer - CAA Gear Up - CAA USA
You may have been looking at the following items:
Roni Pistol Carbine conversion - NFA required
Roni Civilian Pistol Carbine conversion - NO NFA
RONI-STAB - NFA required
They are only banned in CA and NJ as per their website, say nothing about NY. They are also not the same as the Micro-Roni.
I might be mistaken but don't you still have to address the barrel shroud issue?
Although I agree with that statement I think you would have a hard time selling it in court. Mind you I don't really care about that stuff I just thought it should be highlighted for the people on the fence.
