put this here , think it could also apply to rifle shooting too ..
while I agree that there are a lot of safety issues in the video I'm not for condemning him out of hand we don't know if this is what he does on a regular basis or if it's just this video. could be he's new to making video's and he wasn't paying attention to what was going on. this in no way exonerates the safety thing but maybe should be a consideration

So was this guy. Who you were or who you are doesn't mean jack. Your actions speak for themselves.Well you would think he knows what he talks about. He was a Swat team commander I believe.
Great video, I love at 22:17, slurring, "Bro, I am a fucking SWAT OPERATOR! I run SWAT!"So was this guy. Who you were or who you are doesn't mean jack. Your actions speak for themselves.

As I understood it that exercise is to improve technique and not flinch control. It is to learn how not to jerk the trigger and keep the gun flat and steady. If the person is intimidated by the report/recoil there is no number of times this exercise can be done that will help flinch. They simply have to get comfortable with shooting the gun. Or are we calling pulling shots flinching?Notwithstanding the safety issues, he’s right. I saw a range safety officer in Florida do a similar drill with a spent casing on the top of the slide. He made her dry fire until she could do it without knocking the casing over.
The minute he loaded the gun she knocked the casing off before the trigger was fully pressed and the round went off.
Probably flinching or recoil anticipation. I don’t know but I saw the case drop before it went off when previously she was holding the case steady after a complete pull. Knowing live rounds are in there affect some people. As I understood it that exercise is to improve technique and not flinch control. Do you not use proper ear protection at the range? That would explain both the "damn boom" and your hearing getting bad. I guess the damage is done, but you probably want to protect what you have left in your golden years.with me its not the Recoil .. its that damn boom .. glad my hearing is getting bad .,. i'm shooting better now LOL ..
i flinch from the booom .. LOL
what @nortatoga posted help me more ..
