Well, next on the block of cleaning up my life is a Bolens Garden tractor. This is a true tractor, not a riding lawn mower.
It has PTO, high and low range transmission and a rear differential lock.
Model is a 1050, 192-02 with a Wisconsin TRA-10D engine. This places it at 1967-1969 year of production.
I bought this from a family member about 20 years ago with the intention of doing a total restoration/rebuild. Seemed like it would be a fun project and be easier than the cars and trucks I was restoring in my spare time. I put it in the corner of my garage and never got around to it. Time and life's circumstances dictate the fact that I will not be proceeding as planned.
It was being used to mow the previous owners lawn when I bought it. It started and ran well, however it did smoke some especially when first started. I was told that a small engine shop had worked on the engine. I suspect that the rings were replaced and never seated properly. I also do know that the previous owner had the starter/generator rebuilt.
The tractor is entirely stock and original. All paint is original. Two issues are the gear shift knob is missing and the seat upholstery is torn.
The free wheeling pin on the right side axle that commonly gets stuck and is difficult to remove is free and easily pulled by hand. This is probably due to what appears to be a leaking seal that has kept it well protected and lubricated. There is not a battery in the tractor. Mower deck is removed from the tractor. It is complete with blades and belts etc and is included.
Rear tires are in quite decent condition and hold air. Front tires both have leaks but will pump up for moving the tractor. Both should be replaced.
I would suggest that this tractor is a restoration waiting to happen and is not something that you would want to jump on and place into immediate service. Though I see no reason that it should not run.
If I was able to proceed as I had planned I would remove the engine and rebuild it. While the engine was out a good thorough cleaning with inspection and repair as needed of wheel bearings seals etc. would follow.
The paint is good enough that I would leave as is.
Price is $375.00
EDIT:
Just noticed I forgot to put in the OP that I have a one ton flatbed and would be agreeable to deliver for fuel expenses and perhaps a cheap lunch.
There would need to be help and / or ramps or equipment of some type at the delivery site to help unload.
Edit 2: Before I clear a cozy spot in the corner of the garage for the tractor I will offer a substantial price reduction. Price now at $375.00
