corporate ransoms, which are getting out of control due to crypto and will have to be addressed.
Corporate ransoms aren't out of control because crypto. They're out of control because businesses have lax security standards and lack proper risk management planning.
Fujifilm (Japan) was hacked last week. Know what they did? They told the hackers to stuff their ransom up their ass and restored from a backup.
The company told Verdict that it had “sufficient backups in place as part of its normal operation procedure” and therefore did not need to pay the ransom to regain access to the stolen data.
American companies could do this too, but they don't because proper security and regular secure backups cost money.... And they don't want to spend money on that.
Very plausible.
I'm buoyed somewhat by seeing that biden (and even harris) are not lockstep with the ultra whackos on the left. Part of this is because where the rubber meets the road it turns out that it's easier to say things than do them--particularly when you're on the hook for them. McConnell is going to agree to very damn little with the dems and hold out until 2022. The republicans can then point to anything that's going badly and say "we never agreed to that--blame the dems". They should be able to retake ground next fall.
A couple of possible crises on the horizon for biden are inflation (this will get massive attention if it stays high) and corporate ransoms, which are getting out of control due to crypto and will have to be addressed.
I've heard this for four years when Trump was President. The Democrat party is done. Who knows what to believe.
