First of all, I'm guessing the vast majority of Blacks in the USA are not descended from anyone who ever lived in Ghana. And if so, likely a small percentage of their DNA is from Ghana.

Now, if you were a Jew in Europe in 1940, you'd likely consider an offer from pretty much any country to escape Genocide. But African-Americans today in the USA, are simply in no danger of being oppressed or exterminated by a Socialist Government. Unless America elects Biden, of course. Then we would all be in danger.

BTW, can Ghana extend their current offer to any American who hates America ? Send recruiters to our Colleges and Blue States.

Personally, I'm waiting for Ireland to offer me $1,000,000 to relocate. I'd be game for that.

I'd make the same suggestion to anyone considering that offer as I do to people looking to relocate anywhere, even stateside.

Rent a room in your proposed new home, for a week or two.

Then make a decision.

All other things being equal, living in a village where your ancestors have lived for generations, I am sure could be a comforting experience.

But all other things are never equal, and that village of my ancestors is quite likely lost to history.

For better or for worse (and most likely for better), the USA is my only home.

The problem is "African-American " is a catch all term valued by a persons color.
Example a white person from Africa, would they be considered in the free handouts?
Example colored person from someplace not Africa, would they get the free handouts?
Like I said in a previous thread, money is waiting for someone to go to countries on the continent of Africa and pull them into the real world; problem is "your gonna die"!
I personally knew a guy who went to Syracuse University in the 60's, he and his wife went back to help their country (doctor, wife a nurse) they both were murdered. The war lords and corrupt governments need to be overthrown first but by who?
Most were put in place by other countries, brits, frank, U.S., to control resources and combat Islam, look it up.

If Ghana is serious, it is nice to have an option, though, isn't it ?

If there is any country willing to take me with open arms, I've yet to hear of it.

African Christians are being murdered by Islamic Groups daily.

Perhaps Ghana has avoided that fate, so far.

I hope so.

ETA: DNA tests can not pinpoint someone to a particular African nation...it can suggest a region only. Tribal origins are extremely difficult to sort out, regardless of DNA.

Many present day black Americans are indeed descended from peoples in the area now known as Ghana...it wasn't called the "slave coast" for nothing. (Slave Coast | region, West Africa)

It is important to remember that virtually all borders in sub-Saharan Africa were established by the colonial European countries. This is one source of much internal strife in present day Africa - centuries old tribal areas were ignored. Additionally, the colonial powers usually played off the majority tribe against the others. In Kenya the Kikuyu were the favored majority tribe - against the Luo and other smaller tribes. Although I am divorced from my Luo wife I am a white Luo, Omolo clan, by tribal law.

Marcus Garvey was a black man born in England and who was an 19th century proponent of the "back to Africa" movement. The establishment of Liberia and, indeed Sierra Leone, pre-dates Garvey by almost a century.

Garvey's ideas are one tenet of the Rastafarian religion, along with evangelical Christianity and and belief that Haile Selassie I is a living god.

Returning to Africa is an attractive idea to many. It is, however, not without its difficulties. Being immersed in American culture, regardless of race, doesn't prepare one for living in and integrating into African small village life. It is not for the faint hearted. Major African cities (I'm familiar with Nairobi and Addis Ababa) can be very comfortable if you have a fair amount of money.

If you're "dirt poor" and have to live in the slum areas in large African cities be prepared for poverty not seen in America for a long time, if ever. I've been in some of the Nairobi slums, at day and night - unless you're born into it you will never survive. You don't tread the streets and alleys of Kabera, Mathare or Kawangware lightly.

I love Africa very much - the land, the people, the music, and the wildlife. It is, however, not for everyone.

I am closer to being Danish American than nearly are all blacks are to being African American. I have never refered to myself as Danish American.

So many black people claim to hate everything about the US, but they will do next to nothing to change things, not will they return to the land of their ancestors.

African American is a culture, not a race. Race is determined genetically, and for most purposes there are no significant differences between the races.

Culture is a choice like religion. And like religion not all are created equal. You may have inherented a deficient culture from your parents, but unlike your race, you are free to change it.
