Gifting NY Pistol to NJ Son.

With the new NY Gun laws, what is the proper way to give my 40 year old son one of my pistols. I live in Dutchess County and have this pistol on a concealed carry. My son has all the permits in New Jersey.
NJ said he can accept the pistol without FFL or without background, since he has the permits. What do I need to do? I don’t see the Dutchess Co NY State Pistol Amendment pdf anymore. Do I need FFL?

If you want to remove it from your pistol permit you will likely need a receipt from an FFL. Also as far as I know you need to take possession of a pistol in your home state from an FFL. I cant go to PA and buy a pistol without having it shipped to an FFL in NYS for pick up and a background check.
I’d assume your son is legally allowed to posses it so I would just do it the right way to be sure and go FFL to FFL. Call one on the boarder of NJ and see if he will let you drive it there unloaded and locked in a box. Make sure he knows you’re from NYS though.
Or call dutchess county PPO and ask them what they will accept.

Ask your county clerk, If they have a disposed out of state form for you to sign? If you want it off your license you will have to follow their rules.

I did it with my son who lives in Bayonne, NJ a couple of years ago. Was as simple as me taking it to my FFL in NY to ship to his FFL in Jersey.

Wouldn't/ Shouldn't yoy keep it on your NY permit tbough? If you ever had to take back possession or hold it for whatever reason then you're ok.

I say that only because years ago we wanted to take possession of my wife's grandfathers pistols. He was mid 90s and showing signs of dementia. Even though I had a valid NY PP, we had to jump through massive amounts of red tape to take them.

Spoke to the Dutchess County sheriff representative and she said no need to remove from my permit. Can co own as you mentioned. As long as my son has proper paperwork and we transport as prescribed in NJ law.
