Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, out to snow voters nationwide about her record in New York, told another whopper Monday on CBS’s “This Morning.”
Asked about her flip-flopping reputation, a likely 2020 presidential candidate Gillibrand replied: “It’s certainly not my record, not who I am. It’s true that my first election was [in] a 2-1 Republican district in upstate New York. I was able to run that campaign on getting out of Iraq and [on] ‘Medicare for all’, but still won a 2-1 Republican district. And won re-election by a 24-point margin.”
What a dodge: Gillibrand ran those races as a conservative Democrat: tough on immigration, firmly pro-Israel and pro-Wall Street; her stance on guns earned her an “A” from the National Rifle Association. Yet she dropped all those positions after being named to fill Hillary Clinton’s Senate seat.
She says she’s “ashamed” of her old positions. But she’s still flip-flopping by starting a White House run barely months after winning re-election while vowing, “I will serve my six-year term.”
Democrats, beware this chameleon.
